Vista to be replaced by Windows 7 in 2010

12 posts in this topic

Given the lackluster to almost hateful response to Vista, Microsoft has confirmed that it will be releasing Windows 7 before the end of 2010. These details were released when it updated information to select partners about the Windows 7 Milestone 1 build. The company says it is on schedule to have the final version of Windows 7 completed by the end of 2009. It did not mention any specific time frame for the 2010 release; just that it will be released within a three year time frame.Vista was completed by the end of 2006 so Windows 7 could be released by the end of 2009 or any time during 2010. But it appears that the general consensus within Microsoft is that Windows 7 will be ready for release in the year 2010; when in that year remains the question.Microsoft said in a statement that, “We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and development is scoped to three years from Windows Vista Consumer GA. The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.”It has just delivered the Windows 7 M1 build to U.S. antitrust regulators for review. There was no word on when the M2 build would be completed or ready for release. However, M1 is set to expire by the end of this month so M2 should be coming along shortly.Windows Live will be heavily integrated with Windows 7; Microsoft did not wish to comment on what, if any, antitrust rulings would come of that. There you have it. When Windows 7 releases with its new MinWin kernel being almost built from the ground up the hope is that it will cure anything and everything that was wrong with Vista. If it is the success that Microsoft and the community hope it is, Vista will probably disappear from store shelves and online retailers overnight. In the meantime, let’s hope the company kills off Vista Home Basic. Let’s also hope that the Windows 7 line of products is a little less confusing than the Vista line; Microsoft should also adopt a pricing scheme resembling that of Mac OSX.i wonder if theirs gonna be a whole new interface like vista etc..i hear the desktop interface will be like a mac, and microsoft is gonna introduce the new touch screen features to boost sales.http://www.vistaknowledge.com/vista-news/v...dows-7-in-2010/

To be honest windows XP was and still is a very usable operating system with its future proof capabilitiesVista is our peak to technology, most developers/programmers have not even used vista to its full capacity and i dont think they will in 2 years timeWhen 7 comes out, it wont be that much different to vista apart from a slight interface make over and touch screen facility which is old technology anywaystill remains a fact that windows 2000 is the most stable Operating system by far!
