Linuc on Windows through virtual machine

What's the best way to go about this? 'cause I don't need Linux for anything except compiling code and testing it + it's not compatible with my wireless card which is annoyingSo yeah, can anyone help?

VirtualBox,Then download Ubuntu, mount the image and bam.

Or VMWARE.& what Distro is not compatible with your Wireless Card?

What code are you compling? Java? if so you can do it on windows still..Just download the newest JDK off the Sun website.. and use CMD as your terminal

Compiling code in C with GCC, I can do it in Windows but sometimes there are errors running the compiled programs and the Terminal window on Linux is easier than the Command Prompt in Windows. Also having the environment to be as similar as the computers in the lab will probably make them less likely to bring errors after submitting them.I was using Ubuntu beforehand and couldn't get the wireless to work but will be downloading CentOS to run on the virtual machine because that's what the uni labs have.Gonna download Virtualbox and VMware and see if they work for me.
