wtf my ps3 isn't going online, fao: ps3 experts and pc internet experts

i just brought my ps3 to my uni halls, connected it via ethernet cablewhen i try to sign into psn, it says ''the connection with playstation network timed out''i tried doing a internet connection test and i got the following resultsip address = succeededinternet connection = succeededplaystation network = FAILwhy is this happening?i just want to play mw2ffstroubleshooters start shootingsafe.

psn is down / ur uni is blocking it.

could be either that your uni is blocking itor its trying to use a certain port that isnt openaccording to:http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&thread.id=35080your ps3 needs these ports:TCP:804435223 UDP:347834793658 should also be opened for voice chat.cant help you much further im afraid. as far as i know, if your uni firewall does have these ports opened, you arent gonna have much luck.can anyone confirm?
