TBH the real winners are the people renting out the flat. They probably are overcharging way above market price and the council have to cough it up.
No they're not because the council put a limit on how much rent can be charged to council tenants, irrespective of what it's worth. And when you apply for a Housing Benefit on ANY property it gets valued before they accept the claim to see how much the rent should be.p.s. in the current climate the landlords of these properties are grateful of anybody renting out the property because they're losing so much money because of the excess supply of ridiculous "cosmopolitan" apartments.
Did you even read the article? It's going for double the market rate./Private landlords renting to the council through housing associations or privately are not subject to housing associations contracted by the council./The rental market in London is very much alive and well, and in more parts than not it's actually increased. I don't know what planet you're living on.

this guys are living comfortable of their hustle all good to them in todays sun had that afghan family in it who are on a similar ting
its not hustle though really is it? I dont know the ins and outs of it but they were put there by the council, got nothing to do with hustle.do you see this as some sort of moral victory for immigrants against the evil capitalist western world?
depends if the council put them there, which is unlikely, or if they found the property through an estate agent/advert that accept DSS.if it's the latter it is kind of a hustle.
