Southbank Centre commissions, creates, develops and produces exciting and innovative work across a range of art forms, including contemporary and classical music, dance and performance, literature and the visual arts. We also put on hundreds of free events every year, which provides opportunities for many more people to take part and explore what is on offer.

We need 30 pro-active and enthusiastic people to join a new team so if you’re aged 18 to 24 and have been out of work for between 6 and 12 months you could be who we’re looking for!

Southbank Centre has been successful in its recent bid to take part in the Government’s Future Jobs Fund initiative and has therefore been able to create 30 new roles forming a new team which will focus on providing support and assistance to other departments across the site.

This is a great opportunity to get to develop your skills in a number of ways – you could be welcoming our visitors, conducting customer surveys or providing office support – either way we’ll give you training opportunities and the chance to work with a dedicated mentor.

We’re looking for people who can demonstrate their enthusiasm for learning new skills and for getting to know Southbank Centre as well as telling us why they would be ideal working in a visitor-focused or administrative role. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked in a role like this before as full training will be given.

You would start work with us in either February or March.

As these roles are funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, there are certain criteria you need to meet in order to apply for them:

You must be 18 to 24 years old

And

You must have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for a minimum of 6 months and below 12 months.

Closing date for applications: 21 January 2010 by 5pm

Interviews are scheduled for: w/c 25 January 2010
