Disgraced Terry started the affair with Bridge’s girlfriend even though the two England defenders had become the best of friends at Chelsea. Those close to Bridge yesterday said he was “in bits†after learning married dad of two Terry had been sleeping with French model Vanessa Perroncel. One insider said the behaviour of Terry, whose desperate legal effort to stop the Mirror reporting the fling failed yesterday, had been despicable. The source added: “It doesn’t get much lower than this. To cheat on your wife with your best mate’s partner is just disgraceful. Terry is a liar and a cheat. He should be ashamed of himself.â€Bridge became one of England skipper Terry’s closest colleagues after signing for Chelsea in 2003. The two men lived within a few miles of each other in Surrey. They shared a love of dog and horse racing and Bridge was invited to Terry’s stag night.Vanessa and Bridge, 29, were guests at Terry’s £1million wedding to Toni Poole at Blenheim Palace in June 2007. Toni and Vanessa also became great mates – a friendship cemented when they found they were pregnant at the same time.An insider said: “Toni is heartbroken. To discover her husband has been cheating with a friend is unforgivable. No one can believe how deep the betrayal has gone. Toni and Nessa were very close.“And Bridge totally adored Nessa. No doubt he is devastated.“It appears he has lost the girl he loved and the man he called a friend.â€Bridge, who transferred to Manchester City a year ago, split with Vanessa last month. They have a son aged three. At the time of the break-up Vanessa said: “It is amicable. I’m positive that no one else is involved.†Terry, 29, certainly did his utmost to keep the affair under wraps. He even got 33-year-old Vanessa to sign a confidentiality contract and paid her a £1 “fee†to make it legally binding. But rumours began to circulate and when newspapers prepared to reveal how Terry had done the dirty on his mate, the £170,000-a-week Chelsea captain used the law to gag them.He claimed the stories would breach his human rights by intruding on his privacy and last week a judge granted him an injunction banning publication. But yesterday the High Court judge who agreed the injunction overturned it, saying that Terry was only interested in protecting his lucrative sponsorship deals.Mr Justice Tugendhat said: “The real concern of the applicant is the effect of publication upon sponsorship business.â€The judge said he did not believe the ban was needed to “prevent personal distress†as Terry had a “very robust personalityâ€.He added that the plea for a ban was based on business interests and not how reporting of the affair would affect the other “interested parties†– a reference to Bridge, Vanessa and Toni. The judge said Terry was afraid of losing money as sponsors “may cease to use his famous face if it is associated with behaviour of which the sponsor or public may disapproveâ€.Terry, the best-paid English Premiership star, has deals with big names such as England kit manufacturer Umbro, Samsung and Nationwide. They are said to be worth more than £7million. Revelations of Tiger Woods’ affairs in recent weeks have damaged his sponsorship agreements.Mr Justice Tugendhat also said newspapers could claim there was a public interest in revealing Terry’s infidelity as he had given an interview in 2005 vowing not to cheat on Toni again.Terry, who was Dad of the Year in 2008, admitted in the interview being unfaithful to beautician Toni.He said: “I really regret what I’ve done to Toni. I’ve misbehaved and slept with girls behind her back and that’s not right. I’m not going to cheat on her ever again.â€Toni, 28, and Terry have been together for 11 years. They have three-year-old twins Georgie and Summer Rose.Terry, said to be worth £17million, could find his captaincy of England is now under threat. He has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in recent months. He was criticised for using a marketing company to cash in on his role as England skipper. And in December it was revealed he organised a secret tour of Chelsea’s training ground, apparently in exchange for a £10,000 cash payment. In November his dad Ted was caught selling cocaine to undercover reporters. In March mum Sue, 50, and mum-in-law Sue Poole, 54, were arrested and cautioned for shoplifting £800-worth of clothes and food from Marks & Spencer and Tesco.Terry himself was arrested following a fracas at a club in 2003. He was later cleared of affray and wounding.Vanessa yesterday said: “I can’t say anything about this at the moment.†Toni said: “I can’t talk at the moment, sorry!â€

John Terry will keep England captaincy in the wake of sex scandal - Barclays Premier League - ESPN SoccernetQuote:A highly influential Football Association insider has informed ESPNsoccernet that John Terry will not be persecuted within the England camp after the torrid revelations regarding his private life.John Terry: Calls for him to be stripped of the England captaincy are growing louder.Terry is now at the centre of a storm of controversy surrounding his personal life after it was revealed he had an affair with the girlfriend of international and former club team-mate Wayne Bridge. There has been reported disquiet about the England captain constantly hitting the headlines for a series of off-field indiscretions, with suggestions that the FA hierarchy are split, and that the players have lost respect for their captain. But contrary to this, those inside the England camp believe the revelations will not impact on his ability to lead the country or indeed participate in the squad for the World Cup finals.Talking to ESPNsoccernet, the influential figure within the FA hierarchy, who is in regular contact with Fabio Capello, made it clear that Terry's England captaincy is not in jeopardy. "All this happened over a year ago," the insider told Soccernet. "Everybody knows about it and it's all done and dusted some time ago. It's been well known, but all the lads have kept it quiet and got on with their lives. The personal lives of the players, are their personal lives."Some players might think that John Terry is a smart guy, others might not, but the question is whether it impacts on his ability to play for his country, and it does not, unless the manager believes it does, and there is no sign of that as far as I can see."I will be speaking to Fabio Capello about this, as will others, I have no doubt. But let's be honest about this, we are not really interested what goes on with a players club life, particularly his private life, that won't even have an influence on his England career."If it affected his England captaincy or his ability to play for his country that is another matter. But I cannot see how something that is a year old will do that."Terry was named on Friday as the player behind a gagging injunction following a High Court hearing in London. Last week he succeeded in securing an interim injunction against a newspaper publishing details about his relationship with a "famous" woman.Judge, Mr Justice Tugendhat, lifted the order on Friday saying the information had become so widely available to so many people "it meant that an injunction was less necessary or proportionate than would otherwise be the case".Bridge is understood to be deeply upset by the situation, according to numerous media reports, but according to the FA source, the problem was "a year old", so the only upset is the fact that it is now public, which exaggerates the problem.Bridge was a good friend of his former Chelsea team-mate Terry, but the speculation that Capello is considering the future of his squad dynamic, including Terry's future as skipper, according to the British press, appears to be wide of the mark. There were similar outcries for Terry to be stripped of the captaincy by the media after minor Page Ranking gaffs, and a Chelsea training ground sting by a Sunday paper involving payments to Terry to facilitate attendance at training.Questions over whether Bridge and Terry can be on the pitch together, or in the same squad, and whether other players would still respect Terry given his betrayal of a colleague, are being raised by the media, but again according to ESPNsoccernet sources it doesn't appear to be an issue to warrant any internal disciplinary action in breach of any of Capello's rules.

What is this? People who dont support england pick their favourite club player to be captain? :/Gerrard can't be captain simply because he rarely puts in the type of 'captain fantastic' performances that he puts in for Liverpool, he isn't as big a leader on the Pitch as TerryTerry should be captain because he is vocal, passionate, brave, experienced..the guy would get his head infront of a bullet if if he thought it was going in. Not to mention ie is the archetypal 'Englishman'. Also not to mention him being a World Class CB.Pretty sure this is something that Wayne Bridge knew about considering there has been a gag order for some time. Its a very snakey thing to do (Gerrard has done something similar but nvm that )- IF the players on the pitch seem to have no confidence in Terry as captain and it has an adverse effect on the team THEN he should be stripped of the captaincy, not a moment before.Perhaps Rooney in a few years when he matures.+Dawson for England!

Of course Wayne Bridge wanted to keep it under wraps. Would you want everyman and his dog to know that Skipps banged and possibly bred your missus? To be honest as players you look upto your captain as the character he is, so you'd want a snakey guy, who sleeps with his team mates girl yeh as your representative? would you even still be able to look at man with the same level of respect againsnm

Its not about that though, if he is still able to lead them in the same manner on the pitch, then thats fine. And thats the point I'm making, wayne Bridge knew about it.So nothing worse has happened from now untill then.I'm sure the two have had it out, Terry shouldnt be stripped of the Captaincy because of a private matter the media decided they could make money on and thus exposed, if this happened a number of months or years ago, then that was the type to strip him of it, not now SIMPLY because the daily mail got their hands on it :/Off the field antics aside, on the pitch he is the right man for the job.You man are all saying strip him off this and thatits just the papers telling you what to dosame way the papers get managers firedSLASHThe media does not love JT as much as everyone likes to make outfrom the stories about his family, to the sending for him over the penalty miss / cryingThey latch on to the flavour / villian of the monthTerry is currently that Villain

The mob are fickle As soon as England game comes around they have the JT plastered back page on some exclusive interview thing. They hate the Chelsea John Terry but the England JT is their epitome of a national hero.If he can keep the respect of the changing room then I agree captaincy should be his, I just can't really see that happening.
