Billy Davies is hoping that Nottingham Forest can agree an extension to Aaron Ramsey's loan deal. The Arsenal midfielder joined the Reds at the end of November as he looks to step up his rehabilitation from a badly broken leg.His efforts have been hampered by the recent cold snap, with the weather wreaking havoc on Forest's fixture list.He has not been able to take in as many games as he would have liked as a result and is due back at Emirates Stadium on 3rd January.Forest, though, are keen for the Wales international to remain with them for the foreseeable future and Davies hopes Arsene Wenger will allow the promising 20-year-old to stay on at the City Ground."It was nice to get Aaron Ramsey on the pitch. He is getting fitter and better and he had a decent performance," Davies said after handing Ramsey his first start in Wednesday's 5-2 mauling of local rivals Derby."I have given a recommendation to the board with regards to him, we'll see what happens."

Aaron Ramsey will definitely return to Arsenal when his current loan spell expires on January 3. The Wales midfielder made his comeback from a broken leg in a Reserve League match in November and then headed to Nottingham Forest to build up his match fitness in the Championship. But Ramsey has been restricted to one start – against Derby in midweek – after Forest’s schedule was hit by three postponements. That might have tempted Arsène Wenger to extend Ramsey’s loan at the City Ground but, at his pre-match press conference on Friday, he explained why he won’t. “We did not get the number of games we wanted from him because of the snow,” said manager. “He is a snow victim and we are as well consequently. “But I am not tempted to do it [extend his loan]. If Abou Diaby was not injured I would certainly have considered it but not now. “Aaron is not completely ready yet [for the Premier League] but he has been practising every day with the group for two months. I hope that when he comes back he should be ready in February.”
I dunno why if he playing in the Championship now, he has to come back and train with us for a MONTH before playing again. However I'm happy it aint being extended.

Aaron Ramsey has been a “credit to Arsenal” during his short spell at Nottingham Forest, according to their manager Billy Davies. The Wales midfielder joined the Championship side on loan in November in order to get valuable playing time to aid his search for full fitness after recovering from a broken leg. Despite bad weather restricting Ramsey to just two starts and three substitute appearances in his five weeks at the City Ground, Davies feels the move has been nothing but a success. The manager called upon Ramsey for the last time as he completed the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 win over Ipswich today [Monday] before he returns to Arsenal ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League game against Manchester City.Davies admits he will certainly miss the 20-year-old. "Aaron has been a pleasure to have about the place," he told Forest’s official club website. "From working with him on a daily basis it's clear to see he has a wonderful future ahead of him. "He has been not only a credit to himself in the time that he's been with us, but also a credit to Arsenal. "Unfortunately, we haven't seen as much of him in action as we had hoped because of the weather." Ramsey has played three times in six days after making his full debut in a 5-2 win over Derby on December 29, coming on as a 54th-minute substitute during the 2-2 draw with Barnsley on Saturday and playing today. "We have a duty of care where Aaron is concerned and it wouldn't have been fair to expect him to play two games in such a short space of time after so long out through injury,” Davies added.

Arsène Wenger has confirmed Aaron Ramsey will return to the Club on Wednesday, but admits it may take as long as two months before the midfielder is back to his best. The 20-year-old Wales international will be back at London Colney after completing a short-term loan switch to Nottingham Forest where he made two starts and three substitute appearances in five weeks at the City Ground. On Monday, Ramsey stepped up his return by completing 90 minutes for the first time since Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on February 20.Despite this, Wenger insists he is still some way from being at the top level. “He has been [sorely missed] but now he has to come back to his level,” said the manager. “He is off today and he is in tomorrow [Wednesday]. “People forget he has been out for nine months. To come back to your level takes at least two months.”
