Bacon, eggs... and a beer

JD Wetherspoon is to open virtually all its 750 outlets from 7am for breakfast from next month with customers able to buy alcohol from 9am.

It aims to transform the way the nation sees pubs, offering breakfasts like fry-ups, porridge and yoghurt together with coffee alongside the usual drinks.

J D Wetherspoon is to start serving breakfast when it opens its chain of pubs at 7am

The new early hours are one result of the controversial shift to 24-hour licensing laws that has also coincided with a rise in concern about under-age drinking.

A few pubs already open early in the morning for historic reasons.

Many premises have been allowed to open in the morning since Victorian times to provide for the shift-workers at the nation's markets.
