Cherry Groce died on easter sunday

first black woman to be shot by the police in the UK in 1985, this shooting triggered the brixton riots

she was paralysed

http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/september/28/newsid_2540000/2540397.stm

http://www.obv.org.uk/node/4323

Mrs Groce was crippled in the incident and was in hospital for two years.

The officer who shot her, Inspector Douglas Lovelock, was cleared of all criminal charges in January 1987 and was reinstated.

But a major review of Metropolitan Police gun policy after the incident led to a ban on CID detectives carrying firearms.

The new guidelines said only centrally controlled specialist squads - like Special Branch - would be armed.

but them times had the rasta movement happening

black people really coming through and setting up a proper identity

for those who are old enough to remember back then remember how many black community clubs there were

all throughout south, east london and north. Got pictures of me at some as a kid.

All them community halls are gone now around my area allot of them are now turkish/kurish community halls

come like the black people just fell apart and we made it happen to us to easy. Now we have a bag of wotless

youth them running the road thinking with the logic that gunman, badman, greed, prison and death is the way of life,

the exact opposite to what was happening and taught all them years ago about embracing your culture and identity.

Babylon Mash up the sprit of the black people in this country and we never recovered

All it takes is some leadership, you lot are the generation who should be trying to make these changes and bring your communities together.

You obviously want to see changes and unity etc, it's up to you and your peers to make it happen.
