A 21-YEAR-OLD man was found with a gunshot wound to the head last night at a murder hotspot.

Police were called to Ludwick Mews in New Cross’s Woodpecker Estate just after 9pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today, officers cordoned off the road, along with parts of Edward Street where it is believed the initial shooting may have taken place.

Just last July on the same road, 24-year-old Nathan Williams was shot dead in his car.

His mother Anna-Maria Williams has spoken of a “wall of silence” on the estate which has prevented his killers being brought to justice.

A further four murders have taken place there in the past five years but only one has ever been solved.

One 38-year-old resident, who did not want to be named, told News Shopper: “It’s not a surprise - you kind of get used to it after a bit.

“The police are here now but once they’re gone it’s just going to happen again.”

Another resident, aged 67, has lived on the estate for 32 years.

She said: “A little while back, things did seem as if they’d quietened down but now it seems to be flaring up again.

“It’s difficult to know why but I suppose it’s all gang-related.

“Basically you just stay indoors, keep yourself to yourself and don’t say anything.”

Police believe they know the identity of yesterday’s victim, but formal identification is yet to take place.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man, 19, stabbed to death at Tube station.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death last night, Scotland Yard said today.

Officers are examining CCTV footage to find out whether the teenager was attacked inside or outside Finsbury Park Tube station before midnight last night.

Police were called around 11.20pm and the man was taken to hospital but he died shortly after arriving.

The victim has not yet been formally identified. Officers appealed for witnesses to call 0300 123 1212 with information.

Police had cordoned off part of an underpass at the Tube station today, as well as a section of Seven Sisters Road which runs underneath a series of railway bridges.

Forensic officers were examining the area around a bus stop, where a number 254 bus and another single decker had been left empty.

Last night's stabbing death comes as a 16-year-old boy was charged with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed to death on Wednesday.

We could be on course to beat the bumper year of 08 that saw about 29 teen murders.
