Oneil Edwards, the member of the reggae group Voicemail who was shot several times by gunmen early this morning, remains in hospital in critical condition.

It’s reported that around 1.30 a.m., the artiste attempted to enter his home in Duhaney Park, St Andrew when he was attacked by unknown assailants.

He was shot five times.

Carlette Deleon, Publicist at Headline Entertainment, the booking agency for Voicemail, says Edwards was shot in the head, finger, back, leg and abdomen.

She says doctors at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) have been able to remove about three of the bullets and are now assessing results of tests conducted.

In the meantime, the culture minister Olivia Grange says she’s saddened by the shooting of Oneil Edwards.

In a statement late this afternoon, the culture minister also condemned the attack.

Miss Grange who has portfolio responsibility for entertainment, also wished for a speedy recovery for the Voicemail group member.
