Making a website where people can post their own experiences/ jokes and have them rated. Is there some code that can be used to incorporate the positive and negative rating thing similar to pos and neg on here?

similar format to http://www.sickipedia.org/ and http://www.truelad.com/

Do you reckon the creators of these sites can make much through advertising / however else they make money?
