North Korea warns of nuclear 'sacred war'

North Korea says it will use its "nuclear deterrent" in response to joint US-South Korean military exercises this weekend.

Pyongyang was ready to launch a "retaliatory sacred war" at any time, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

Washington and Seoul say the war games are to deter North Korean aggression.

Tensions between the two Koreas have been high since the sinking of a South Korean warship in March.

An international investigation said the ship was sunk by a North Korean torpedo, a claim strongly denied by Pyongyang.

The BBC's John Sudworth, in Seoul, says this is not the first time that North Korea has issued such a warning.

Although it is likely to be dismissed as the usual diplomatic brinkmanship, the rising tension will cause concern among governments in the region, he adds.

Tbh the Us/south korea should of just invaded them ages go, disaster waiting to happen.

Swear theyve got like 2million soldiers on the border of the countries alone?

plus nukes.

Woulda just got messy surely?

Yeah the only thing they have is numbers.

Their armys still stuck in the sixtys, out dated big time, and theres no way there would dare to send a nuke anywhere because their country would be obliterated in hours.

North koreans have to travel through China to get to South Korea

I see it on unreported world, treacherous terrain and they get treated like sh*t in China

if they have a child with a Chinese, the child has no citizenship rights in China

You cant attack north korea from the north cos u have to go through china, thats not happening

This whole conversation is f*cked anyway.

Firstly, If N Korea do have weapons, they won't dare fire them. SO basically this isn't happening.

Secondly, if they DO fire them, we don't fire back, we get the international community to freeze their aid. Simple. Within a few months or so the country will be fighting within itself, the Government will be faced with an uprising by mobs of hungry, angry citizens. ANd the USA and China will have a puppet leader in place within a year.

The thing about North Korea trying to make nuclear weapons, is that it makes sense for them to do so. There is a quote that always sticks in my mind when I read stuff about North Korea.

People talk about North Korea being crazy, but it's not. It's purely rational for a nation with no assets being threatened by the world's major power to develop insurance against attack
From Derek Mitchell who was an Asian policy advisor under Clinton.

Anyway, I think it has been found on a number of occasions that N.Korea have called America's bluff on their nuclear capabilities,

North Korea doesn't have a long range targeting system

But the war games are right on the border...of demilitarised waters, so they wouldn't need them in this instance.

That said, I can't imagine them firing nukes at gaming warships, so in any case you're right. But that was already common knowledge, hence why their last attempt failed miserably and fell into some body of water.
