Got all my pop accounts setup to relay into GMail ages ago, no need to have be greedy on purely gmail accounts. Can send from there as well without "send as rule"

yeah I got that, but when you have two different aliases you don't really want the trouble of having to remember that you have to switch your "from" address to whatever other email you want it from - plus you still leave trails as the message will always contain the main email address you're sending from in the message properties
