Benefit cheats hotline

22 posts in this topic

The whole reason I created an account is to ask one question.

I am guessing that the majority were raised under the school of thought of 'Thou Shalt Not Grass'. Therefore, most of you would never call the benefit cheats hotline andd notify 'Sue from Glasgow' that you know someone earning dosh on the side of their benefits.

But are there ever any exceptions? Do some benefit cheats deserve to be ratted on? And more importantly, depending on how well you know the person, is it your job? Especially when we take the current climate into account does it PISS you off that though some of you might be taking a; cut in earnings/ a job loss etc someone else is benefitting from a system where many can live a life of leisure due to the hard work of others?

If we are honest, at the very root this could be deemed as snitching. However, as there is a code of honour that a lot of people live by where you don't grass even if what someone does is terrible aren't you letting some cretins take advantage and allowing their nasty behaviour to be deemed as acceptable.

I was bought up with the rule that you don't tell tales, especially to the law. I'm starting to question this now as I've got older. Esecially since I've encountered a parent who regularly puts her child in danger because of who they socialise with. The icing on the cake is that they are a benefit cheat which annoys me more. Now because of that innate disgust that I get about the whole grassing matter I am reluctant t notify social services and calling the benefit cheat hotline is strictly a no no.

Are the rules I am raised with causing more harm than good?

Really I should have led with the whole social services matter as its causing me the most worry. Many sections of my family have drummed in the fact that social services are child snatchers, I've given them the scenario about the woman I know and what danger the child is in but get dirty looks for even the questioning the rule. You just don't tell tales is what I'm always told.

call social services about the kid, but allow taking away food from the kid if their benefits get cut off.

NAH THERE ARE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SNITCHING

like say you see a police officer beating someone down, snitch on that c*nt

if you see a pedo snitch on him

if your house gets burgled call the police

etc

That's what I thought (@ necksta) but even then some people have called in to doubt approaching social services. Also, one of the way she is endangering her child would notify the authorities of her scummy benefit cheat ways.

Yes because its important to be pedantic on an internet forum. Its clear the thread is about grassing in general. You don't have to answer the questions, you can close the thread and keep it moving.

How is oit scummy people live? Part of me thinks there is no point grassing as her choices are more to do with lifestyle; she has sex with random men in front of her child, let's known drug dealer and general bad lads use her place as a doss house. That sort of thing. She also smokes weed and drinks whilst caring for the child and has slapped it up a few times (not serious but the child is under 3 years old so its a tad unneccessary in my eyes).

FYI I didn't say I would snitch on her, I just used benefit cheats as an example of whether or not it is ever acceptable to grass.

She doesn't do it on a regular basis and looking at her and the child there are no obvious signs of neglect (house is clean and so are they). However, abuse isn't always obvious is it? And I think though what she is doing could be deemed as 'normal scummy' behaviour the cycle needs to be broken so she is aware that sh*t like that isn't right.
