You heard about the american church who want to burn the Qu'ran because they burn the US flag?

What is your opinion of this?

Are they stupid?

Jakarta, Indonesia -- Thousands of Indonesians gathered Sunday outside the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta to protest a Florida church's plan to burn copies of the Quran.

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainsville, Florida, plans to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks by burning copies of the Muslim holy text. The center describes itself as a "New Testament church based on the Bible." It made headlines last year when it distributed a T-shirt that said, "Islam is the devil."

Protesters in Jakarta carried signs saying, "Jihad to protect Koran" and "You burn qu'ran you burn in hell." The protesters included members of the hard-line Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia and the pluralism care movement, a multi-faith group.

"We hope that the U.S. government to stop this plan. We represent Muslim, Christians and other religions who all wants to avoid any clashes as a result," Damien Dematra, the coordinator for the pluralism care movement, said in a news statement.

Police were on the scene at the peaceful protest, which included children.

The Florida church said on its blog: "On 9/11/10 we are burning Korans to raise awareness and warn. In a sense it is neither an act of love nor of hate. We see, as we state in the Ten Reasons below, that Islam is a danger. We are using this act to warn about the teaching and ideology of Islam, which we do hate as it is hateful. We do not hate any people, however. We love, as God loves, all the people in the world and we want them to come to a knowledge of the truth. To warn of danger and harm is a loving act."

Muslims see provocation in the plan.

"The burning is not only an insult to the holy Koran, but an insult to Islam and Muslims around the world," said Muhammad Ismail, the spokesman for Hizb ut-Tahrir.

It's messed up.

But this is what happens when your whole system allows politics and religion to mix. You have politicians who have mid term elections coming up who have taken a strong line against things like the muslim community centre near ground Zero. You have these tea party maniacs who are slowly gaining a lot of sway with formerly moderate republicans who used to look at these people as the backwards ass of the US now because Fox news is backing them and people like Glenn Beck are constantly publicising them they have these weak politicians on the run. The thing is they are not that powerful but we know in cases like this those who shout the loudest are declared the winners.

It also speaks volumes that Obama hasn't come out against this disgusting act instead choosing to hide his head in the sand i know he has preached unity before but these people will never respect him,or want anything to do with him they see him as a uppity nigger and even worse in their minds a muslim man.

He has really let this sh*t slip.

Black Panthers are getting involved if this guy does anything

Why?

I think it's stupid if they go ahead with it but they are fundamentalist christians. They are retards. Just as the people threatening to murder Americans in response to the Qu'ran burning.

This is why people hate religion. Complete and utter nonsense runining our world that rational minded people have to put up with.

Members of the New Black Panther Party showed up in Gainesville Monday to let The Dove World Outreach Center know it is outraged by its plan to burn the Koran.

"I believe in peace but if you aggress me, I am going to fight back," said State Chairman of the New Black Panther Party Mikhail Muhammad.

The church plans to burn the holy book Saturday on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The pastor's plan has reached all the way to Afghanistan where Monday hundeds of demonstrators burned a cardboard effigy of the Gainesville pastor, Terry Jones.

"We are not surprised at all that they are responding in that way because that's the nature of Sharia law, that's the nature of violent Islam," said Jones.

"We basically want to warn Pastor Terry Jones that if he burns this Koran, he's going to insight a wrath and chastisement on himself that he will not be able to bare (sic) and all he's going to do is add more division between Muslims and Christians when we should be sitting down at the table to resolve our differences," said Muhammad.

The New Black Panther Party say it will be back in Gainesville Saturday to show the church and the world they won't stand for religious hatred.

What makes me laugh about Islamic fundamentalists is that they are happy to hypocritically flex their freedoms and rights to protest yet do not wish to allow others the same opportunity.

They are happy to burn American flags but when somebody chooses to burn a qu'ran they must die?

Lets be honest right now. If every qu'ran and other religious text was burned and wiped off the face of the planet then the world would be a better place.

come on man, burning a flag and the quran is not nearly the same thing

How is it different?

Burning the American flag is illegal in the U.S. Patriotism is some peoples religion.Their flag represents many things to them.

Both are acts designed to offend people as well as make statements.

There is no difference.

edit: I am against the burning of the qu'ran however. I believe it is an infantile act by one group to try and offend another, almost attempting to goad them into taking action.

It's all tactics really. Americans know that they're gonna enrage the East by doing something like this, the East becomes enraged, make some effigys and burn them in the town center whilst screeching like lunatics and firing their AK 47's in the air, FOX news films them, Americans think they're all savages and th cycle continues.

It's sh*t.
