Nothing really wrong with a Cat D. just make sure the repairs have repaired to a professional standard, make sure you have the usual documents.

Dont bother with a Cat C.

U need to find out more - as Cat D also means a stolen car thats been recovered after insurance has paid out - u also need to check insurance company will insure u - its a bodywork ting u will be paying a lot to get it repaired hence why insurance companies dont bother as u may as well buy a next car

It's got a years MOT had an inspection and has had a HPI check is this ok?

Well there's no option to say if it is Cat D or not, do they just know or do ya tell them, even if ya do it on the internet?

Would imagine the Cat D notification would come up when they put in reg no in their systems

I haven't seen it yet goin to see it when I go in person. I'll update ya when I find out, thanks.

find out what kind of accident its been in....as someone said earlier if its been on a jig stay away from it like a plague

chech the chassis numbers for any tampering

make sure price is reduced by due to being cat D

and tae someone with You to test drive it who knows cars well.

What does been on a jig mean sorry? Like robbed?

nah a jig is a machine that straightens the chassis or panels on a car, if its been on a jig it most probably means its suffered chassis damage which means the car wont drive well and would crumple in an accident
