Children without MMR should be banned from school, says former BMA chairman

38 posts in this topic

Children should not be allowed to go to school unless they can prove they have had the MMR vaccine, according to Sir Sandy Macara, a former British Medical Association chairman.

Sir Sandy wants the MMR jab, which guards against measles, mumps and rubella, to be made compulsory.

He has submitted a motion for debate at the BMA's annual conference later this month, the BBC reported.

The number of children being given the vaccine plummeted after research wrongly linked it to an increased risk of autism.

The drop in take-up has been blamed for measles outbreaks across the country and raised fears it could lead to an epidemic.

Children should receive their first dose of the vaccine at 13 months of age and the second at around three years and four months of age.

But one in four children under five has not had both injections.

Sir Sandy said: "Our attempts to persuade people have failed.

Here is a recent article. One of many.

Dad tackles European Parliament on autism

5:30pm Saturday 30th October 2010

A STOCKTON Heath man, whose son has autism, has attended the European Parliament to draw attention to a steep rise in the number of cases in the UK.

David Thrower, of Ackers Lane, helped organise a seminar in Brussels to support son Oliver, aged 23, who he believes became severely autistic after having the triple MMR jab as a child.

The meeting was hosted by Marta Andreasen, UKIP MEP for south east England, in the committee debating chamber and was attended by more than 70 parents.

They heard experts in autism, a brain development disorder, describe the rising numbers of young people with the condition in the UK as a ‘tsunami’ that is now being considered an epidemic.

Speeches were made by Dr Alvaro Ramirez, chairman of the European Autism Public Health Alliance, Kathy Sinnott, an autism campaigner and former Irish MEP, and Dr Andrew Wakefield, the US-based research scientist who is investigating the possibility of a link between MMR vaccines and regression into autism.

Mr Thrower, aged 60, said: “We felt that the MEPs were prepared to listen carefully to what we had to say. They are clearly concerned at the steep upsurge in autism numbers and the apparent lack of interest by member state Governments, such as that at Westminster, in investigating the rise.”

swear it's been peoven time and time again that there is no link between mmr and autism

the media took one scientist's small study of about 15 children with autism which speculated about various possible causes and common history between the children and the mmr vaccine was one theory he speculatively said might be worth looking at, then the media took that and went nuts and turned it into "MMR = AUTISM" and twats like thun decided it was a government brain-destroying exercisd to dumb down the population and turn everybody into vegetables

Pricks like you will pump sh*t into your kids body even when you dont know the full extent of the damage it can do

Up to you if you want to take the risk but allow trying to force people to take it

If your kid has received the jab then you aint got to worry about the kids who aint got it

Common sense

init, what's the problem. if some1 catches something due to not having the jab, that's the fault of their parents, the immunised children are still imunised, so no thread is caused to them

about compulsary injections bitch needs to STFU with that sh*t. if it's such a problem, make it school by school, not like there wouldn't be enuff children without the jabs to fill schools anyway.

so the theory is that governments and doctors are conspiring against our kids. . . .

speak to any doctor about this and you'll see the anger in their eyes about how misinformed and generally stupid people are

There are many theorys but speculating what they are and dismissing the more important aspects of how dangerous the vaccine can be is more important to concentrate on

You know the study was done on 12 people and Wakefield was struck off right?

You know the vaccine has been around since the 70's and therefore it's likely you're one of the 90% of the population that's had it right?

You realise that on pubmed there's countless further vetted (peer reviewed) publications all of which discredit the original and none of which find any link between autism and the MMR vaccine right?

About well informed. C/S ZeeZee. My brother is a doctor and if only you saw the disdain consultants have for wikipedia medical experts. There are conspiracy theories and then there is outright bullshit and misinformation which d*ckheads like you continue to propogate long after the media have acknowledged there was no veracity in the original claims.

Stick to 911.

Why would doctors be disdained because people are informing themselves?

Thats a good thing that people can access information to make the choice and they should be able to make an informed choice and not be forced

Seen many doctors make wrong decisions so stop your hype prick thinking people cant ask questions

Probably because they spend 7 years studying medicine, then you come along and tell them what's what, having "informed" yourself by reading material you don't actually understand or have any context to from two or three articles from prisonplanet.com with worthless sources

@ Thun.

I wouldn't question someone on molecular biology if they were an expert in that field. I wouldn't question an economist if they were an expert in their field. The same way I won't question the GMC and countless other distinguished researchers who have nullified this 'study'. Not to mention anyone with a grasp of statistics knows to infer something about the general population from a study of 12 without even a cause-and-effect model is just ludcrious.

I have no problem with intelligent independent research and with taking things with a pinch of salt. That's not what you're about though. You are constantly looking for conspiracies to unravel and corruption to demonstrate that the government/powers that be are all knowingly evil and oppressing. If you want to see something bad enough you will, and that's what's happening with you.

And for that reason I'm out.

There are developments in medicine beyond the 7 years of studying you know

Seen a friend go doctors with a condition his doctor did not know about but my friend done research and informed the doctor what it might be as its rare. The doctor was pleased that my friend had shown him the info and is now getting treated due to the doctor getting new info that was on the web
