Prolapsed Discs

No idea how I've managed to do this but I prolapsed a few discs in my lower back well over a year ago and its been uphill ever since - I think this is some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. One of the discs just won't heal and nerve pain is an absolute f*cker.Long story but I think it was made worse by GP advice to carry on as normal as they thought it was just a muscle pull. Usually takes about 6 weeks to heal from what I've been told but I seem to be unlucky.Unable to squat, deadlift or do any leg work for that matter, even worse I was unable to do the basic everyday things like sit on a chair, drive, move around freely for a long time. Still having a lot of problems.Anyone prolapsed a disc before? I advise anyone who feels any pain in their lower back or glutes to lay off weights. Also I've been told tight hamstrings can pull your back out of place.Surgery was always the final option but as each day passes it seems like it might have to be. Anyone ever had any experience? Any recommendations? I've seen a lot of 'specialists' with some very clueless.

cs gp's sometimes being terrible at diagnosing these type of things tho.my old man was told he had degenerative arthritis of the hip, after sum xrays and a few months of f*ckin about he was told it was actually just sciatica.my mum slipped and hurt her ankle, went to the doctor, he said its sprained keep it elevated shud be fine in a week or two, month later still hurts finally persuades them to give her an xray, her ankle had been totally smashed and she had been walking round on it for weeks.

lol carpe pleaseyou say that to an orthopaedic guy he will smash u in the faceosteopaths with no qualifications over a GP ... ur chatttinif they helped its because its all in ur head... them placebo effects ther
It may not be big in the UK, but it is a very useful specialist area. its more of the typical UK snobbery from the more established medical profession. lol@ some placebo effect, when i know what was done for me. GP's are not specialists at everything, and ive always said i have little faith in the NHS.. but even my private GP at times tries to just dismiss things off cos i'm muscular and fit...as he usually does. so i requested he send me to see see a specialist.

It wasn't through deadlifting, at the time I hadn't even been hitting the gym properly. I was playing a lot of football and I think it was a combination things, but I'm hurt I can't hit the gym properly and might not be able to for a long while. Never realised how sitting and certain movements cause pressure on discs and the back, definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things.I've got Sciatica too, hate that, feels like someone has set your limb on fire, all your muscles and tendons burn.GP's are exactly that General Practitioners. Some of these Ortho and Neuro guys love putting someone under and cutting but I was lucky, I was referred to a supposed conservative neurosurgeon but I still found him a bit sh*t, they aren't very good at communicating I'm told, their best work is done when you're under but its a massive risk that I don't really want to take. Your back and spine are something you don't want people to open up and mess with. The Ortho guy I saw or 'muscloskeletal' specialist as he liked to be called was f*cked up, he attempted to use mainpulation without even sending me for an MRI and I really don't think he helped either, made things up as he went along. He was NHS referred.Best two guys were Osteopath and Physio, Osteopath was private but wasn't looking to extort and knew his stuff, it's just a shame the NHS don't support them as much. The Physiotherapist is helping me activate all my muscles, didn't think it'd be this hard but it has been. My strength is like a girls, that's how I feel.Any advice to improve my strength but with light weights and no squats or deadlifting?
