Gamer's Voice

27 posts in this topic

I will be writing one or more opinion pieces per week on this up'n'coming website that's dedicated to being exactly what it says: gamer's voice

Talking about general topics of note, battling against the, hopefully dying, prejudice

But if anyone has heard of anything that might be a good subject of discussion/ article worthy I'd like to hear it

DISCLAIMER: Not trying to get people to do my job for me, but people on here are undoubtedly more knowledgeable in certain areas

http://www.gamersvoice.org.uk

Safe!

You know what would be good, how video gaming has moved on from being a stereotypical nerdish/geeky thing to do now becoming one of the biggest things in popular culture.

It might take some research to do but I feel it would be a bloody good read.

Yeah I was thinking about that

Incredible really when you think about it

It was the geekiest sh*t ever, proper outcast thing, now look at it

MW2 being the biggest release of any form of media in history

Videogaming in 2030- Satirical or serious article on how gaming is going to change in 20 years time.

Biggest gaming flops of all time- Games that failed to live up to hype

You could talk about Cloud computing games and services such as onlive and whether or not this concept can live up to its name.

Gaming has became very commercialised in the last few years and its starting to ruin it, with DLC, in game product placement etc. I feel that a lot of devs have deliberately dumbed down their games to appeal to a larger audience (The resident evil series is a prime example of this)

I remember when it was actually a challenge to complete a game, now it is so easy I cant even remember the last game that I was unable to finish.

Another thing is these f*ck*ng motion controllers. If this keeps on going it is going to kill real gaming all together, for me gaming is sitting in a dark room for 8 hours at a time only moving to go to the toilet, not sitting waving my arms about like a complete prick to some shitty novelty shovelware.

Maybe you could touch on some of them subjects sometime.

1. I think there are too many good and original games on the market right now for that to be too much of an issue, I don't see why DLC is a bad thing either?

2. I agree, though I'm pretty bad at games in general so I don't know if I could hold much authority on that one

3. The technologies like Kinect are incredible, a sensor that can see in three dimensions. Stuff like that pushes us closer to real developments of how games are played, and the prospects for AI and VR are high too, so I'm all for it.

discussing the ethics of dlc that is already on the disc but is just locked away when the game is released it seems like a bump to me as its already created but is pretty much taken out of the game when it could easily be included

tl;dr a lot of dlc is not dlc any more

Could talk about newer franchises versus the longer established ones and what needs to be done to achieve that longevity.

video game music mate, it's one of the only healthy lookin parts of the music industry today, discuss how it can be as interactive as the game, which sets it apart from the music for film industry (see red dead redemption)

and the whole chiptune scene where ppl make tracks from old skool synths that were built into amiga and commodore 64s and sh*t

thing with DLC is its EXPENSIVE

if a game is £35 how is 4 multiplayer maps gonna cost approx a £10? then you have microsoft paying for exclusivity eg blops map packs which no doubt pushes the price up further

the motion technology thing - yes its opened up a new avenue in gaming - the casual gamer - but as long as we have titled like MW2 breaking records then there will always be 'traditional' style games being developed so i dont see it as a threat as such

GAME have recently stepped up their second hand campaign quite aggressivley. Its a f*ck*ng PAR to be honest for devs.
