Big Brother Back This Year

49 posts in this topic

dont watch it, but im sure some of you would like to know or whatever

Reality TV show Big Brother will return to TV screens later this year after Channel 5 signed a two-year deal with its creator, Endemol.

The series will begin with a celebrity version in the summer followed immediately by another featuring members of the public.

The show was axed in 2009 by Channel 4, which broadcast the final series last August.

Channel 5 said it was "hugely excited" to have secured the deal.

The new series will be continue to be filmed at its original home of Elstree Film Studios in Hertfordshire.

Channel 5 said Big Brother would form "a key part" of its TV schedule.

"The series has previously captivated a decade of television viewers and we aim to bring Channel 5's energy, optimism and vibrancy to the series," said Jeff Ford, Channel 5's director of programmes.

Presenter Davina McCall has previously ruled out returning to host the show.

Speaking at the National Television Awards in January, she said: "I think Big Brother has got legs and any channel that picks it up would be a very lucky channel but I don't think I'll go back to it. I think I've said goodbye."

The show, which had been broadcast by Channel 4 since it began in the UK in 2000, was dropped after director of television Kevin Lygo said the show "had reached a natural end point".

Big Brother had suffered from falling ratings in recent years - the final of the last series, which also featured the launch of Ultimate Big Brother, was watched by an average of 4.1 million people, compared with an audience high of eight million in 2002.

was going downhill, as the years went on the people who entered all had increasing agenda's

however if you look at the ratings, yes they fell as each year went by,

but in tv terms for that time slot the ratings were still very good,

actually suprised Channel 4 dropped it in the first place as i doubt whatever the put on at 10pm now beats even last years big brother in the ratings,

obviously the ratings and how many people watch a programme means nothing to us, but when it comes to selling advert space thats what dictates how much money you'll be getting,

it'll boost Channel 5 aslong as the start with the right host, and with something fresh to the idea

Big Brother will definitely return on Channel 5 this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Star Sunday has claimed that Channel 5 will sign a five-year deal with Endemol in the next few days. As previously rumoured, the show will return with a four-week Celebrity run in August, immediately followed by a regular series in September.

Among the celebrities being considered for the summer stint are ex-Harrods boss Mohamed Al-Fayed, The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs and The Wanted singer Max George. Meanwhile, Charlie Sheen will apparently be offered a "big-money" deal.

Joanna Lumley, Peaches Geldof, Prince Harry's ex Chelsy Davy, Abbey Clancy and Tinie Tempah are also said to be on the producers' wishlist.

Additonally, controversial football pundit Andy Gray, Home and Away actress Samara Weaving and boxer Ricky Hatton could be offered deals to take part in the reality show.

"We are giving television fans exactly what they wanted - Big Brother back on our screens this summer," a source said. "The deal will be signed over the next couple of days but everything has been agreed. It's a really exciting time for Channel 5 and everyone is determined to make this new era of Big Brother the best yet.

Renovation work has already started on the house, which will be similar to those in previous series but with additional improvements, the report adds.

"It will still have things like the Diary Room. The show's format will also stay the same so fans don't have to worry. It will still be the same programme that they've all grown to love over the years but with a bigger, brighter and sexier future.

"It's going to have a bit of a revamp with some new features but all the favourite items will be back, including the 24-hour live feed."

Will defo watch if that line up is correct + some boshes
