ANDY CARROLL does not feel he is fit enough to play for England in the Euro Under-21 finals. And the Liverpool striker fears if he is forced to go to Denmark it could seriously affect his chances of being injury free for the start of Liverpool's assault on next season's league title.Carroll has told Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce of his worries and is supported by Liverpool's medical staff and boss Kenny Dalglish. They believe he needs the summer off to rest a long-standing knee injury. The squad is due to be picked today. Pearce also wants to select Jack Wilshere, despite Arsenal's objections. Both Carroll and Wilshere will be named in the England senior squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland at Wembley on June 4.

Wilshere has a case as he's had Champions League football, will get it again next season and played all season.Carrolls missed half a season, only has a handful of topflight appearances, no credible European experience and no big game experience. If he wants to go as Bent's competiton to the Euro's next year he should be raring to go for this tournament.Walker, Gibbs, Richards, Smalling, Henderson, Sturridge and Wellbeck all have equal/better reasons for missing it than Carrol. It's laughable he'd find a reason to pull out.Unless of course he genuinely isn't fit.

With many citing that players need to be observed in tournament football and how they cope in the hotel between games, if ever their was a questionable it should be about Carroll. (Altho I always suspected Kenny was too crafty to let him go)While I dont agree on the hotel thing as most players go on tournaments in youth football (U16s, 17s, etc...) so it's nothing new to them and you only have to go back and ask them coaches what so and so was like, the only real issue of the hotel thing and England is more when the English guys get to the seniors they are now paid a fortune and no longer living at home (so the idea of a curfew and days of a next man rules are a bit meh).Carroll got sent home from U19s, so f*ck knows how he living in Capello's prison next summer. As for Wilshere tbh the guy is a prick. I hope Wenger doesn't let him kick a ball again for us until October.

Tbh burnout doesn't apply to wilshere. People need to stop bein bitches. The only players who can cite burnout are the ones who's clubs are fighting in lots of different competitions right up until the end of the season. Arsenal haven't been involved in anything except the league for a while. And on top of that under 21 football is not the same intensity as the world cup or real euros and it's not in a hot country either.if he can't pull himself together to play this and next season back to back he needs to join the ben foster crew. People need to stop treating players like little girls.
