He should have gone to Cambridge IMO. Spurious reasons for choosing LSE IMO. What job is studying Sociology at LSE going to get him, especially in this economy. Going to Oxbridge, unlike other universities, affords you the ability to study completely useless degrees and still find a very good job. You will find people who read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge being offered finance jobs over candidates who have studied something more relevant at a less regarded institution. Its sad though that Oxbridge has such a stranglehold, more than able candidates can be found at many other universities. It's a damn shame that an Oxbridge educated candidate for a job automatically has an advantage over a non-educated oxbridge candidate, even if the non-oxbridge candidate achieved a higher class of honours. But this is the world we live in.

That being said I sympathize with him. I can see why he chose LSE over Cambridge. Going to a very well-regarded University out of the ends, there wasn't a day when I wish I was in London going to raves and seeing more than 20 black faces for the whole year. If he went to Cambridge, his hair would be picky for most the year, invariably due to the dearth of black barbers. Especially as a black boy from the inner city, who most probably went to a comprehensive before Woodhouse, if he went to Cambridge, he would meet more people who are worlds apart from his life (even privately educated black people are different trussst). This can be good and bad however. His horizons will definitely be broadened. However he would have come into contact with faggy Rugby boys: Public and Private educated kids who talk in some Gay faux-gangster accents when trying to be 'hip', People who go Skiing (and actually think this is a useful way to spend ones time), a catastrophic lack of peng tings and girls woefully lacking any shape to their bodies. He would most probably end of wifeying some any generic white girl called Poppy because that's all he can find in his milieu (not speaking from my own personal experience). He would most probably feel like an outsider for the duration of his time there. At Cambridge he will be stretched intellectually more so than at LSE, however the exam stress and intellectual competition can also be demoralizing. The workload at Oxbridge is a lot arduous than at LSE and other UK universities also.

All in all he would probably enjoy himself more at LSE and have a more well-rounded student experience. If he could disregard all of the negatives about going to Cambridge, and put his head down for three years, the pay-off would have been immeasurable.

But all the best to him. I wish him God's blessings, I'm sure he'll do well whatever happens.
