Wycombe wonderkid Jordan Ibe rejects Chelsea as Manchester City enter race for 15-year-old with Etihad trial

Last month the Wycombe Wanderers sensation underwent a trial at Liverpool and has been the subject of a formal enquiry from Manchester United, but The Sweeper has learned that the schoolboy has also spent time being shown around Manchester City and Fulham.

Chelsea have gone even further in trying to prise Ibe from the League One club and made an attempt to sign him but the player rebuffed their interest.

Happy for him fuck going to Chelsea and becoming another Clifford, Mancienne, Michael Woods etc. Needs to stay at Wycombe for at least another year then move to a team like Crystal Palace or Southampton where they have a good record for nurturing players. His talent is evident for all to see but he doesn't want to end up another Giles Barnes. Just hope he does not become the next Giles Barnes.

12-year-old Swindon Town midfielder has rejected the chance to join Chelsea, the League Two club have confirmed.

Jordan Young, spacer.gif one of the Robins' most promising players, has been the focus of attention of several bigger clubs but it was theBluesspacer.gif who made the first overtures.

However, he has opted to remain with the Robins and continue his development, to the delight of the Wiltshire outfit.

Young is contracted to the County Ground outfit until 2015 and the director of Swindon's Centre of Excellence has expressed his delight the youngster has, for now, shunned the lure of the glamorous Premier League.

"We are delighted with the way Jordan is progressing, like so many of our other players within the Centre of Excellence and the STFC Youth Department," Newton told the club's official website.

"A lot of hard work goes on, not just at our club, but in the majority of Football League clubs as we coach and develop youngsters at all ages.

"So to have interest shown in this emerging talent by Premier league clubs and for them to continue monitoring players is testament to the good work that is going on.

"Jordan remains contracted to the club until 2015 and he is one of a number of players who we have high hopes for and have secured for the future."

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has revealed in his column with the Liverpool Echo that he believes it was the correct decision to bring young winger Jordon Ibe back from his loan spell at Derby County. Furthermore, the Anfield icon claimed that Brendan Rodgers recalling Ibe is a sign he feels the attacker is ready.

Ibe joined Derby over the summer on a season long loan but in the week Liverpool confirmed that they had taken up the option to bring him back during the January transfer window.

Speaking in his column with the Echo Lawrenson said that he couldn’t obviously see how Ibe was going to fit in with the club’s first team but the fact that he has been recalled shows that manager Rodgers will have some plans for him this season.

The former defender also went on to say that he has heard that Ibe has done well and added that he believes that Derby should be more than capable of achieving promotion this season so it makes sense to bring Ibe back to Liverpool.

Lawrenson said “It seems to be one in, one out in terms of youngsters at Liverpool with Jordon Ibe being recalled from his loan spell as Suso heads to the exit.

“From all the reports I’ve heard, Ibe has done well at Derby. I don’t know where he could fit into the Reds’ first team at the moment, but having him back is a sign Brendan Rodgers believes he’s now ready to play a part.

“Derby have one foot in the Premier League anyway. Being back at Melwood is the best thing for Ibe – and for Liverpool.”

You didn't notice that as soon as results dried up he brought back talk of a 'philosophy'? It's been a tough season.

Not familiar with him ever vering away from his Philosophy. I hate when he uses that word tho he makes him self sound like he doesnt know what hes talking about. Its pretty simple with sturridge out and the loss of suarez we couldnt really press like we did last season. Hes had to adapt. I think Lucas coming back and us having a recognised dm has saved his skin. Would be out the door if he played gerrard in the same QB role from last year

Also the 3-4-3 has helped

Nah it was during that period when you were playing Jones in goal. Coulda sworn it was before the United match. Rodgers mentioned going back to a more possession oriented style of play. He used the word 'philosophy' as well

I thought that interview he gave was telling and sure enough you went on to lose (even though you didn't play THAT badly).
