Laptop Memory upgrade

17 posts in this topic

Guise,

Have any of you upgraded your laptops memory before?

Where are the best places to buy lappy memory?

Need to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB for my flight sim.

Crucial the best bet?

DDR3.

Never changed a lappy memory stick before, is it hard?

Was thinking of buying 2x 4GB and throwing my old one but there's no point, might aswell save the money & buy 4GB to add to my 4GB.

EDIT.

2x 2GB on each slot, pissed! Need to buy 2x 4GB

RAM is the easiest to replace

Just clips in and out

How do you find exactly what memory you'll need?

I've searched on the net for my model & they claim it is 1066MHz.

your money would be better spent on an adult literacy course via learndirect imo

Yeah, but it depends on the motherboard tbh. I've checked mine and it has shown me what I can get, only £34 for 4GB x2 seems sweet! I need a static band that has a plug, anyone know where to get one?

not just the motherboard, you need to make sure youre running a 64bit operating system

could have a 64bit compatible board but if youre running a 32bit OS itll be limited to 32bit

I know mp but I'm a pussyhole when it comes to fixing my computers.

Hopefully I can decrease the latency on my Serato when I get 8GB.

It annoys me that DDR2 memory is mad expensive yet the superior DDR3 is far cheaper. It makes my upgrade that little bit more expensive.

Not matter how much RAM you have, Windows will always find a way to use it.
