France v England 1700 ITV1

TEAM NEWS

England manager Roy Hodgson will spring a surprise by selecting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain against France.

The Arsenal winger, 18, is set to win his third international cap in the Group D opener.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his debut against Norway in May and has played 84 minutes of international football.

Hodgson is set to pick former Southampton man Oxlade-Chamberlain on the left, in preference to Liverpool winger Stewart Downing.

England are expected to pair Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck in attack against France on Monday, with James Milner on the right wing and Oxlade-Chamberlain on the left.

Manchester City's Joleon Lescott should partner John Terry in central defence.

BBC Radio 5 live's senior football reporter Ian Dennis said: "The team won't be confirmed until an hour before kick-off but this will be the England team which starts here at Euro 2012: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole, James Milner, Steven Gerrard, Scott Parker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck.

"I think we all thought of Roy Hodgson with his pragmatic approach and conservative nature. It is really refreshing he is plumping for Oxlade-Chamberlain. He only made his first start last weekend against Belgium. It is a sign that Hodgson isn't just here to park the bus against the French."

France midfielder Yann M'Vila is fit after an ankle knock but is unlikely to start, with Alou Diarra likely to play. Blaise Matuidi is also available.

Striker Karim Benzema should feature despite suffering recent back pain

Hodgson says England are wary of France's attacking talent ahead of the much-anticipated Group D opener.

France are unbeaten in 21 games, and scored nine goals in their three pre-tournament friendlies.

"You have to be aware of the array of talent going forward," said Hodgson.

"They are great in the final third. The main thing is to nullify the threat they create around our penalty area."

France manager Laurent Blanc was pleased with the availability of all his players.

"Our objective is to pick the best team possible," he said.

"For Yann M'Vila, Blaise Matuidi and Steve Mandanda, the news is pretty reassuring. The medical staff have done remarkably well to get them back as quickly as possible."

England (probable) : Hart, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole, Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Welbeck, Young.

France (probable) : Lloris, Debuchy, Mexes, Rami, Evra, Cabaye, Diarra, Malouda, Nasri, Ribery, Benzema.

England vs France

It would be nice if England could leave the bus outside the stadium and actually come and play ball

France need to score first and quickly. Just like the Croats last night have to move the English bus around and Benzema cannot stay static whatsoever

If England score first then France are fucked because there is no Zidane to dig us out this time.

Ribery must see the ball a lot because he will actually rip Johnson into pieces.

Menez must see the pitch because he is the biggest threat France in terms of dribbling at pace.

The French back four have to be tactical aware in terms of counter attacks and set pieces especially Hodgson mentioned about the full backs especially Debuchy love attacking so therefore there will be a lot of space for England to expliot.

Mexes and Rami have mistakes in them (big ones) but it's Evra who are really worry about

M'Vila is a big loss

Hopefully Joe Hart gets shown how over rated he is and France are clinical.

Ukraine vs Sweden

Should be full of goals because both defences are woeful

Yarmalenko hopefully has a good game (the guy has quality in that left foot)

Zlatan scored twice in Euro 2008 and is in the form of his life, captain, number 10(I hope Zlatan turns up)
