Anybody ever had dental bridges or implants

13 posts in this topic

Depends on di funds.

Bridges can be evasive or non-evasive but this will cost more. Back in the day they would shave down a tooth either side and these two would 'bridge' the tooth in the middle.

You can now get bridges where they use a hook either side and use cement to hold it in place, can last up to 10 years depending on how tight your bite is and how well you maintain; floss, brush etc.

The hook is metal, quite large but sits behind the tooth (you can't see it), you can now get this as porcelain (harder to see) but it wont last as long and is more expensive.

Go to a reputable private dentist and you're looking at anywhere up to £500; two appointments, one to make a mould and the other to fit it. They try anything else and they're bumping you. Most practices have plans so if you're one or a private plan they may offer a discount, DO NOT GET THE BRIDGE ON THE NHS IF ITS A TOOTH WHICH IS VISIBLE WHEN YOU SMILE.

With implants, depending on the fact you're young, healthy and have no other conditions, you'll need more appointments and can look at £2,500 and upwards, but this will last a lifetime.

Yup I'm currently booked in for an implant consultation, it's gonna be about 1500, seems I will stick with it

Bridge will be a lot cheaper but given that the tooth has been extracted, the bone in my jaw will lose density over time and I'll have to come back for repeat procedures

sh*t is annoying as hell though

If its visible and you have the funds, why not.

Got a private consultation booked, going to book an NHS one too and weigh up

It's going to take something special to make me choose the NHS over a specialist though

I feel for you bro. Having bad teeth must f*ckin suck. It affects you in so many ways and can hit your confidence.

One of the geezers are work has wrecked his teeth from fizzy drinks and coffee. He reckons he needs thousands of pounds worth of work done. I reckon its worth spending.

SNSTR are you a dentist fam?

But the lack of symmetry is pissing me off

Mouth/teeth is deffo worth the money man
