Kurtis read till the end and the comments.

A pleasant and thoughtful young man too; a magnificent representative of the Masai and Kenya. Should have a wonderful life ahead of him.

I grew up in Tanganyika, where my father was a policeman: I remember him saying, in the early 'fifties, that when the Masai and the northern East African tribes got to compete at the Olympics no-one else would get a look -in. "John, these boys can run for days at a time almost without sleeping, without track shoes, through rough bush. A bit of training, and the opportunity, they'll be unstoppable!" He knew. He had been given only two weeks to teach one of his corporals how to box, and in the inter-services match his man lost but three times knocked down the best heavyweight in East Africa, a sergeant in the K.A.R ; My father always said that with another week he could have changed the history of Uganda. The winner on points was Sergeant, (later Field Marshal) Amin.
