Using them Pre Order Bonus tactics on me for when Phantom Pain shows up in 2016.

IGN

Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes pre-order bonuses and also revealed actions performed in the prologue title will affect the story of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain proper.

Anyone who pre-orders Ground Zeroes will receive exclusive content, including Mother Base Staff for use with the Mother Base in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

While introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes, the Mother Base is set to play a central role in Phantom Pain. Konami has promised that the exclusive Mother Base items obtained via pre-order will give gamers "a key advantage" when they start Phantom Pain. Seeing as it's the central hub where you'll be building new armaments and storing weapons, this sounds pretty useful.

Additionally, it's been confirmed that player's actions during Ground Zeroes will carry over onto your Phantom Pain save. For example, characters rescued will be available within The Phantom Pain. Actions performed in the prologue game will also have repercussions at the conclusion of the follow-up.

Finally, Konami has also announced iDroid: an app available on iOS, Android and Smartglass systems that acts as a second game screen and unlocks new options for you. It can show a map of the world or summon air support, while cassettes found in the game can be played via it. It also provides access to global rankings for mission success.

iDroid will be compatible with both current and next-gen versions of the game, and it'll also allow you to remotely build the Mother Base. Earlier today, Kojima revealed how he came up with the names for Solid, Liquid and Solidus Snake.

Ground Zeroes is essentially the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The full version of Metal Gear Solid V being split into two games has been explained by Kojima as being a result of the release of PlayStation 4.

Konami has also confirmed that the upcoming prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will run at 1080p on PS4, and 720p on Xbox One.

While the release date for Ground Zeroes was recently announced, Kojima has warned fans against expecting Phantom Pain any time soon, as there's apparently still a good deal of work that needs to be done.

Expensive to rush out and buy one just for Ground Zeroes but if you plan to get one at some point then I suppose now is as good a time as any as the price probably won't drop any time soon.

Some small reasons to consider over copping it on PS3/360. Price of the game is the same as PS3, You are getting Bonus content in Phantom Pain if you Pre Order Ground Zeroes now, and also the game save carries on over onto Phantom Pain. No doubt you will be using the PS4 when Phantom drops so it's a question of whether you want the saved game carrying over and bonus content or not. If not then get it on whatever console you already own.
