Solid state drives

55 posts in this topic

Just bought one for my PC...

Fack!

This is an investment that everyone needs. Windows boots up within 10 seconds, Photoshop and Premiere within 3 seconds. This is the best kind of upgrade you can get for your PC/notebook no doubt.

Just cop a small capacity one 64GB or so and use it for apps and your OS then use a second normal drive for storage.

yup

no point in getting the ram and the processor if you don't have the SSD to truly make use of it

lol @ investing in a Macbook Pro and not gaming on it, surely you're just wasting all of those top notch components?

a word of warning, most places on the net are saying if you go to Mountain Lion your battery life gets worse - though I think with Lion its supposed to get better

My battery life is basically non existant anyway

I have over 1000 cycles on it

Dave, if you're doing that why don't you just run one of them minimalistic XP releases

i should be able to run a normal OS though, i used to do it on my 2009 core2duo PC and it was running smooth with 2GB ram

This is the one I copped, they're doing 20-50 quid cashback on certain models.

m4_ssd.gif

They're basically faster hard drives. Should become standard for all new computers by next year.

BTW If you're upgrading your mac to have one of these, defo get the one I posted above.

Crucial M4.

Acronis have good backup/sync software.
