Been following this big cufuffle about the use of the word 'pleb' which that MP used.

Just though about it, a lot of insults we use do we really know what they mean?

Definition of pleb

  • an ordinary person, especially one from the lower social classes.

  • Actually defined as a member of a despised social class, a commoner, a member of the plebs of ancient Rome. Also low-born, undisinguished, vulgar, and my personal favourite: vulgar-looking.

twat/twät/

Noun:

  1. vulgar. A woman's genitals.
  2. vulgar. A person regarded as stupid or obnoxious.

The word twat has various functions. It is a vulgar synonym for the human vulva,[1] but is more widely used as a derogatory epithet, especially in British English. The word may originate from Old Norse þveit meaning cut, slit, or forest clearing.[1]
