People here that their parents are not from england or werent born here

Given the chance, would you play for england or your motherland

This is gonna become more of an issue in future

case in point:

It is, though, a first of a kind. With the selections of Raheem Sterling, Carl Jenkinson and Wilfried Zaha, Roy Hodgson has chosen an England squad that contains for the first time three potential debutants who could yet end up playing for another country. Of these three only Jenkinson, who has played for Finland at Under-17 and Under-19 levels, has openly pledged his future to England. Sterling, who is eligible to play for Jamaica, is still uncommitted.

Zaha, likewise, is undecided whether to opt for Ivory Coast. It is a state of uncertainty that will continue beyond this match, with only appearances in a competitive fixture considered a definitive nailing of the colours to the mast. Zaha could score a hat-trick for England on Wednesday and then go on to score the goal that knocks them out of the World Cup finals in Brazil in two years' time.

It's weird...

Take Jenkinson, he basically played for Finland at young levels cos he probably didnt think he was gonna get anywhere near England....

Zaha's rise has caught him off guard... and tbh its probably gonna be money and club pressure which decides who he plays for. It's funny he even talking the Ivory Coast when he is playing for England U21s.

Sterling mum already said she wants him to go Jamaica, but tbh lol, he'll be England, so his mum mugged herself off there.

What this does prove is even England/The FA know the talent pool is shrinking, you think years ago they would have indulged in a sign him up contest, and also that dual nationalities players are no longer prepared to wait as playing for England isn't the be all & end all. To think even Welbeck made England sweat after the Ghana friendly...

Always puzzles me that England doesn't embrace other nationalities in football like most other European counterparts.

You got Turkish playing for Germany through the ranks, France consisting of every flipping African French speaking nation there is - yet a chance to be exploited goes unnoticed in the UK...meh my future son will play for Sierra Leone....it was written.

taken leon osman 7 years for his token cap

muzzy izzet was the best attacking mid in england at one point and was consistantly a goal getter/creator and he got overlooked even when england were desperate for players in 02 and chose turkey

colin -kazim too lol if bothroyd can get a cap

not even turks...just cos we dont have a football team lol

turks will never make it up the ranks in england unless they have white first names... to hard for the coaches....same for north affs

africans are the ethnics only hope of breaking into english ranks

caribbeans dont count they basically englishman
