i just connected some boog 2.1 system to my raspberry pi and use airplay to play music from my iphone

living room is 5.1 though, but i just stream TV in my bedroom at night and play music like once a month, dont need anything special

Woah woah woah hold the fuck up

Can Raspberry Pi do airplay now?

Was days away from buying an apple tv cause of airplay/xmbc but if raspberry pi can do both...

i use openelec xmbc distro on the raspberry

yes it can

i use it to stream porn on xvideos from my iphone aswell

it also manages to stream TV from my set top box in the living room over my home network if that interests you. any enigma2 box will do (i got the vu+ duo), and you can control everything with the iphone app. ALSO my TV remote works natively with it so i didnt need to buy one, soon as i plugged it in i could use it to navigate menus and stuff.

not bad for a £30 computer tbh

yer there is a vast difference in quality but it depends on the size of the room, the wattage of the amp you get, dont want the speakers to overpower the amp..if your getting it for your bedroom go with bookshelf, but if its for like a front room go with floorstanders
