Harry Wilson made history on Tuesday night, becoming the youngest-ever player to play for Wales.. and he made his grandad £125,000 richer too.

The Liverpool teenager broke Gareth Bale's record by 108 days as the 16-year-old came off of the substitutes bench in the 1-1 draw in Belgium.

The Wrexham-born lad - who could have played for England despite both his parents being Welsh -  has been tipped for a big future at international level by boss Chris Coleman.

He took to Twitter immediately after his landmark 87th minute appearance, and wrote: 'Great moment for me personally tonight, would like to thank everyone for the support and all the kind messages'.

But his grandad Pete Edwards would have been equally delighted as he collected his mega winnings.

The 62-year-old backed his grandson at odds of 2500/1 to play for Wales when the Anfield starlet was just 18 months old. And his £50 stake netted him an incredible payout.

William Hill spokesperson Graham Sharpe said: 'Mr Edwards has been able to quit his job as a result of his amazing ability to spot fledgling talent earlier than almost anyone else we've ever taken a bet from'.

'Apparently, England have also been interested in Harry, who has a grandmother born in Chester. If Roy Hodgson had snapped him up this bet would have been a loser!'
