I have an ipad mini I don't use at all, but it is the most convenient thing to take on holiday/work/library/train journeys or whatever. Long to find movies and tv shows to download that are in mp4 format though. If you buy them off iTunes then it's no problem.

The reason I don't use mine is because I have a laptop, so you might make more use out of an ipad if it's all you got.

nah they're leaving it out to save battery until they can make it more efficient in some way

if you see yourself buying another device in 3 years i'd go with an Air, if you want one that'll last a bit longer go with the Pro Retina

Air: battery life, lighter/smaller

Retina: great visuals, though when you get non-retina apps they look pixelated

lol "retina"

why can't apple just spec things correctly, and just say what the resolution and the ppi is?

prob becuase it becomes easier to see what out specs it

you've gotta give things a keyword to make them sound new and impressive

"the cloud" has been around for years

spec is listed for both of them its just a product name .. what should they call it, macbook pro 25600 x 1600 resolution, 227 pixels per inch?

it was a sweeping statement because "retina" isnt exclusive to macbook pros

as for how they should list it

display: (2650 x1600) 227 ppi

like every other company dose

im not even going to get into apple saying there is no point in improving the screens because anything higher than what they are doing isnt notcable to the human eye

meaning behind "retina" is if you have it at normal distance from your eyes you shouldn't be able to make out the pixels

Not Even going to lie. I had a retina iPad third gen which I have sold and got a 4g nexus 7. I was tempted by the iPad Mini 2 but looking at the price, superior tech in the nexus is 250quid cheaper.

This coming from someone who has a significant investment in the Apple ecosystem with an iPad 3, Mac book pro, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s.

Ios7 is the biggest change you are going to see to the os for time yet these are features that were on the HTC Desire 4 years ago.

Apple drove standards up but have remained flat for the last 3 years. So my next phone will not be an iPhone

, my next laptop will not be a mac book, and truthfully the nexus is a very good piece of kit.

If you really want an iPad get the mini 2. IPad air might lighter but it's still too big too travel with and use on the train which is the primary reason I got rid of my iPad 3
