Keane & Vieira - Best of Enemies | Tuesday 10th December 10pm | ITV 4

112 posts in this topic

A new documentary bringing football icons Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira together to discuss their explosive rivalry, which defined one of the most compelling eras of the Premier League when Arsenal and Manchester United vied for the top honours.

In the documentary Keane and Vieira come face-to-face before the cameras to tell each other exactly how they saw it at the time and how they feel now, looking back.

While their two clubs competed with each other for the biggest prizes in the domestic game, their leaders fought on the pitch and argued off it, with the most infamous bust-up coming in the tunnel at Highbury in 2005.

The two men face each other across a table candidly discussing the most tense, frustrating and important moments of their careers, including the so-called 'Battle of Old Trafford' in 2003. They explain why they had a fearsome bitter rivalry, and what they really thought of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger then and now.

Keane did his best united he played with aswell, was just full of people that stood up against fergie

Roy Keane have named the greatest Manchester United team that he ever played alongside.

As intriguing as those included in the side are, it is perhaps those omitted who will raise more eyebrows.

Among those who miss out on the former Manchester United captain's XI are Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs. It was the latter who Keane was most dismissive of, telling ITV4 of the Welshman: "Having a great career doesn't mean you're a great player." Keane said Scholes' omission was only because he had to include himself in one of the central midfield roles.

ROY’S UTD DREAM TEAM

GK: Peter Schmeichel

RB: Paul Parker

CB: Gary Pallister

CB: Jaap Stam

LB: Denis Irwin

RM: David Beckham

CM: Paul Ince

CM: Roy Keane

LM: Cristiano Ronaldo

ST: Eric Cantona

ST: Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Are you saying Paul Parker wasn't up to it?

I'd personally pick Neville, but Parker isn't at all laughable. That team is correct apart from that. Mid 90's Keane with 94's Ince was frightening.

I respect your opinion on United, but no Scholes?

He said he would've picked Scholes if he didn't have to pick himself. Ince was a beast. Guess it'd depend on the opposition.

Would've been interesting to see these 2 side by side in a double pivot in their prime.
