his is the shocking moment a man was kicked THROUGH the top-deck window of a London bus.

On-board CCTV footage shows his attacker aiming a kick into his midriff before the man disappears out the side of the double decker.

A following bus captured the moment he fell to the ground then into the road, with the glass landing beside him.

Driver Elliott takes up the story after a fight broke out upstairs on his bus opposite Finsbury Park.

"Passengers came running down saying 'driver, driver! Stop the bus! There's a fight upstairs!" he told BBC programme The Route Masters: Running London's Roads.

"As I'm slowing down, I look in my nearside mirror and I see a body drop. I'm thinking: what the hell's going on?

"I pull over and a lady comes up and tell me that someone's got kicked out of a window. I call the ambulance and police and tell them what happened.

"I came out the bus and saw the guy in the street - he was in a bad way. He tried to get up but he had spinal injuries and started coughing up blood."

Detective Tony Barun, of a specialist Metropolitan Police unit named Safer Transport Command, often sees video of violent attacks - but found this one particularly hard to watch.

"It's still shocking. Although we see violence every day, it's our bread and butter, it's still shocking to see something as graphic and violent as this," he told the programme.

"We know these window can be kicked out with a great deal of effort, but to see someone kicked so hard that he actually goes through the window and it pops the window out of its frame - I've never seen that before."

The CCTV shows how the assailant then jumped out of the gaping window himself, sliding down a sign before making his escape.

Barun added that police are looking for a suspect after widely circulating CCTV images of the man and his girlfriend.
