Form 696: The Police vs Grime

Noisey presents a new documentary about London's grime scene and its relationship with the police, hosted by JME and featuring Meridian Dan, Jammer and Big Narstie.
In February, Just Jam’s event at The Barbican was cancelled at the last minute.
It was an event that seemed to be yet another victim of the London authorities now notorious risk assessment procedure, Form 696.

Told through the eyes of Jamie Adenuga—grime outfit Boy Better Know's tee-total, vegan frontman who was booked to perform at the Barbican—Noisey investigates what the reasons behind the sudden cancellation were. He speaks to lawyers, journalists and fellow artists like Jammer, Meridian Dan and Big Narstie to find out whether the prohibiting of grime music events by London police is a cause for concern, rather than a solution to crime in the capital.

You can watch Form 696: The Police vs Grime Music on Noisey from this Thursday.

these days your grime event is less likely to have sh*t happen than your house ones

How is it that American artists can come over here and chat whatever madness they feel like then?

That was a good watch and posed some good questions, the fact the authorities aren't interested in engaging in a dialogue about how promoters of certain events can reduce the risk of there actually being a risk of something happening speaks volumes.

i don't understand how this negates john's point?

i aint watched the vid but what are u aiming at? u think tony blair had a personal vendetta against grime or what?

there's various reasons why they wouldn't prevent yanks from giggin over here

the record labels behind them would have more political clout for one

there's the big money involved, the potential music tourism, the fact the shows aren't every other week, they have no control over the 'scene' ie it wouldn't make a difference stoppin shows

i don't get the point
