How do you judge a footballer?

Do you base it on current form or overall ability?

Reason I ask this is cuz one pro Rooney guy is arguing that Rooney is going through a rough patch but that you cannot deny his ability.

So I'm asking the vip2 fam, what do you guys look for in a player?

Thing with Rooney is he hasn't fulfilled his potential.

If he had Cristiano's mentality I'm sure he would be top 5 in the world IMO.

Anyone who's pro Rooney and thinks he has fulfilled his potential is gassed and shouldn't be talked to about football again.

The problem with Rooney is he would show flashes of excellence and people in hope mostly will just expect that to be his level. When in reality his level is what his level is if that makes any sense.

Example. Cahill's goal the other day was World class, if Rooney had done it people would say, "see I said he was world class, remember his bicycle kick against City couple seasons ago" when in reality his world class moment comes now and again it's just that they are highlighted to a degree to make people think they're more common. The media falling back abit would be do him a big favour on the other hand that could affect his income so.....

People would rather look at the flashes as oppose to what is the norm for him. The norm is better than what he's showing right now but not near that top echelon of player we often see him compared to so often. In response to this people in the other side will criminally underage him to balance out the people who criminally overrate him so it's then harder for people to have a good and solid opinion of Rooney the footballer coz the arguement is dominated by extreme views on both side.

Was never as good as the media made him out to be.Would NEVER have reached ronaldo levils.never even if he had cristianos dedication.

One thing i will say is although I hate the c*nt hes one of the most underrated finishers in the game.

His goal scoring ability on his day is lethal

Overall ability is how I judge a player.

Things i look for in a player is:

- composure

- vision

- technique

- a little of bit of flair is always a nice bonus

Any player, especially under 24, needs luck with managers.

Lallana and Lambert had that luck at Southampton, no matter how high they went or when Pochettino came in, the team was more or less always built around them.

It allowed them to progress as footballers.

When Taraabt came up with QPR he was stripped off the captaincy unfairly by Warnock.

When Beckford went Everton he wasn't given a sustained period in the team etc...

I remember when Hodgson 1st came to Fulham, said he wanted Full Backs with height now Omozusi is at Leyton Orient.

Rafa destroyed Babel playing him out wide etc...

Sometimes you are just not in a managers plans or if you are, his plans don't correspond with what is best for you.
