interesting take on it

i could probably own up and say i've been 5 of those 6 guys, if not each one at one point, but then i've been listening to hip hop and rap for 20 plus years

lol at grime heads being into Big Sean tho, not sure about that one

also his thesis was beggin for a Joey Badda$$ name drop

Lupe is shit, never known what people like about him.

Kanye is both a wonderfully gifted producer and he's winning in general...he ain't a "clever" or "conscious" rapper though. In fact a lot of his conscious stuff is quite naive.

Maybe. I respect him as a purveyor of the HH lifestyle and there's no doubt the dude can rap.

However, I personally don't feel his music, because I think there is very little substance or deep knowledge behind what he spits (at least what I've heard).

I think he's a pseudo-intellectual, basically.

Started correct with the ex grime heads but then got it wrong.....

road rap yes, but not hipster more likely oldschool

id associate grime fans and hipster together now but not the EX fans................

rest were kinda right tho

I usually break it down into Eras but it could go deeper

Krs One, Mc Shan, Big daddy kane.

Mid 90s - Pac, Biggie, Deathrow, Badboy, Nas, Jay-z, CNN ,Wutang, RR & co (Golden Era imo)

Post Marshall Mathers LP  2000

2003 - post G-unit, Dipset.. This era was short lived but think this is where the game peaked imo. You will find these fans under snips category of Trap rap & Hipster category

For me it's all about melodies, lyrics with substance and delivery. Artists like Bone Thugs, Eminem, DMX, B.o.B, 50, Rich Homie Quan etc are the type of rappers i like U.K. wise Dappy falls into that melodicaly gifted bracket. Man like Nas, Common, KRS etc can rap but i find them boring. Where as some 1 like B.o.B has a message but because of his melodies and delivery executes his message in an interesting and engaging way compared to Nas.
