The two guys who made Barcelona and Spain the force they were

Though I wouldn't call it a strictly CM partnership

It was bait you made the thread to state that from your last post re left foot and right  footed cm's

You're wrong, however, by some distance aswell, the only contenders for this title come from

Spain

And

Italy

(though give it a few years and we will have a contender from Germany)

them 2 did it as a partnership at both club nd international level though. They just had that balance of being able to protect their defence, attack just gelled together

Lies

They were never a partnership on the international scene

Deschamps was always the 2nd name on the team sheet

Either way they still won the double at club level

And at club level Xavi and Iniesta wiped the floor with everyone, internationally too

Two genuine big game players at the highest level

The next best is probably

Gattuso - Seedorf - Pirlo

Rui Costa - Kaka

But it's still a long, long, long way off and that team was arranged in a narrow formation that packed the middle and played centrally, so there wasn't really a true midfield pairing

Based on three months?

Don't use the lesson they taught you lot@Anfield as a yard stick

should've had a lot more Scudetti under their belt

the whole team was just nuts

I don't remember this

Maybe for two or three games because in 02 Valeron was a starter in Spain's midfield

Must of been in 04 but Xabi was first team way back then

It reminds me when Ice said that was Spain's midfield duo up until 2006

Raul was holding Spain back the same way Messi is holding Argentina back IMO.

Euro 2004 when they got knocked out in the group

Had xavi on the bench and xabi as 1st back up

In 2002 baraja was the main guy and albeda was his back up

Valeron had playmaker role and xavi was his backup

deffo Raul was a cancer as soon as he went and they got Villa,Torres upfront Spain went clear

Shame for Raul because he was already old and his legs went by the time Xabi,Xavi,Iniesta really broke through

Imagine raul gonzalez with that midfield behind him. would be a madness imo
