Mario Gotze

Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann believes it's best that his compatriot Mario Gotze and Bayern Munich part ways at the end of the season.

Despite scoring the winning goal for Germany at the World Cup last summer, the 22-year-old hasn't been able to replicate those heroics at club level this campaign.

The midfielder has been in an out of Pep Guardiola's starting XI and came on as a second-half substitute during their 3-0 defeat by Barcelona on May 6

'Mario Gotze is badly out of form and has hardly contributed for Bayern Munich this season. It would be best for the club and the player if he moved on this summer,' Hamann wrote in his column for Goal.com.

'Bayern is clearly not the right club for him. There’s a lot of press focus, fans turning up at training every day, it’s intense in a way he doesn’t seem to like. If you have signed at a big club for a lot of money and much is expected of you, sometimes you have to stick out your elbows and make people know you are there.

'Gotze seems to like a more harmonious atmosphere and Bayern are highly likely to sell him. He’s not happy at the club, and the club aren’t happy with him. When that’s the case it’s better all round to have a parting of the ways. Bayern will want to get back roughly what they paid for Gotze but whether anyone is willing to cop a £30m fee is another matter.

'There has been talk of a swap with Manchester United for Angel di Maria. Whether that is likely I don’t know, but Di Maria is the type of player Bayern need, and they have to bring in players of his calibre.

'Their squad is too old, they need more pace and more width – as they showed in the 3-0 defeat at Barcelona – and they need to move now. They cannot afford to wait another year.'

Pretty sure he was on some 12-14 goals halfway into the season & just had a really poor 2015 thus far.

Ridiculous comments from Hamann.

it's not just Hamann

Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer has hit out at Mario Gotze, urging him to "grow up" if he wants to succeed at the Bundesliga champions.

The 22-year-old has won back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Bayern since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2013, but has yet to develop into an undisputed starter for the Allianz Arena side.

Gotze was benched for Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League semi-final first-leg defeat against Barcelona after he was previously already dropped for the DFB-Pokal semi-final against Dortmund and Beckenbauer has now criticised Germany's 2014 World Cup hero's attitude.

"He behaves and moves around on the pitch like a youth player. He just stops moving when he loses a duel. This is the behaviour of a child," Beckenbauer told Sky.

"This kind of behaviour does not fit in at Bayern. It is time for him to grow up.

"He has shown at Dortmund what he can do and we know that he is a great talent. But there is still something missin

Let's face it, he's been a flop so far

Overrated

Bayern just wanted to weaken dortmund as a rising power in the bundes

so they lured & took Gotze on a gamble

Hasn't worked and now he's taking abuse from all the suits and former OG's

He's been poor, no two ways about it, still a huge talent though.
