CL qualifaction for spurs at this moment in time, although we should be aiming to compete for one of the cups at least

Take away 4th CL spot from prem and give it to the FA Cup winner aswell

Exactly why it's not a serious trophy.

It's not indicative of how relatively good a team is, Wigan being an example.

It's indicative of how motivated a club are to go for it, which is generally only the underdogs and the big clubs under pressure and desperate to get some silverware. Arsenal being an example.

I love the competition and the opportunities it brings lower tier sides & players. But it can't be a serious trophy.

If a side wins three b2b FA cups but barely scrapes CL in those seasons or even gets relegated. Do we look back on that side as dominant force in English football during that period?

The only time the FA Cup matters IMO is

A) to garnish the PL title so that a club clan claim without doubt that they were dominant domestically, winning the league comfortably enough to have had enough resource to sweep up a second domestic trophy in the process.

B) when a small club defies the odds to make an upset.

Cant be having Wigan Athletic in the champions league qualifiers

If CL is up for grabs teams are gonna take it serious.

The FA Cup CL spot is an argument for teams who predominately battle for/finish 4th-7th in the league.

Hence why Tottenham fans are all for it :lmao: additionally bizarre as the don't actually win it...

Besides England aren't guaranteed 4 CL places, for the Premier League to give away that spot to the FA. Then due to co-eff the Premier League lose a spot, it would be 2 league places and the FA Cup.

Then when you consider that the co-eff is bad mainly to the 5th and lower teams Prem teams, not giving a fuck in the Europa, they would give less fucks once they then have to fact the FA Cup now being worth a CL spot, nah mate.

Yes but it will take away the magic of the competition if the bigger teams went all out. As in smaller teams dreaming they can win it, huge upsets, less entertaining for the neutrals etc
