Leyton Orient have lost the plot

Bad enough that they went from promotion Final to relegated in one season. But some of the business they've been doing of recent is shocking

Main example I've seen today. Dean Cox, most creative player in their team, bangs around 10-12 goals from midfield a season (scored 5 this season already). He had offers come in for him during the transfer window, Orient blocked it. Transfer window closes....Then they release him?????

this is the quote orient put out today

Quote

Winger ends seven-year stay with the O's

The club and Dean Cox have mutually agreed to terminate Dean's contract.

We would like to thank Dean for his service to the club and we wish him all the best in the future.

Their main striker is injured and they release their main scorer....

They been selling off players one after another, most on free transfers

look at this shit?

I don't know what kinda shit is going on over there but they're gonna fuck that team up

Hatters respond to maximum sanction imposed by EFL

Luton Town Football Club are dismayed by the EFL’s ruling that the maximum £15,000 fine should be imposed for fielding what the league believes were under-strength teams in securing qualification from Southern Group H of the Checkatrade Trophy.

The EFL executive has fined the Hatters £5,000 for each of the three matches played in the much-maligned competition for breaching Rule 7.3 by not starting with at least five players who started the league fixture immediately before or after the Trophy game, or the five players who have started the most league and cup matches to that point in the season.

The Town won 2-1 at League One club Gillingham (pictured above) and beat Premier League West Brom’s Under-21s – plus four senior players – to ensure qualification to the knockout stages ahead of last Tuesday’s defeat to Millwall, which was played in front of the second highest Checkatrade Trophy crowd of the week at Kenilworth Road.

The £15,000 fine will be deducted from the £20,000 prize money gained from these impressive results.

Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet said: “We entered those teams with our eyes wide open and we accept that we would be fined for doing so. While we don’t feel we should be paying ‘fees’ to get our youngsters experience, we view that as an investment in their development.

“We are staggered, however, that we have been fined the maximum amount for our first offence, which was winning away from home at a club from the division above with half-a-dozen first-team regulars in their team.

“We played nine graduates of our academy in that game at Gillingham, and seven against a West Brom side containing four players, two of whom who were internationals and had been transferred for several million pounds, and still beat both.

“We believe our team selection has added value to a competition that was dying last season and is now – with low three-figure attendances at many matches so far – well and truly on its last legs.

“We had the second highest attendance in our one home game against a fellow senior EFL club, which we believe was only because we were playing our youngsters.

“We acknowledge our breach of the competition rules, but does our ‘offence’ make a mockery of the competition any more than a club substituting their first-choice goalkeeper after just a couple of minutes of the game to ensure they met the five-player starting rule.

“Which is more in keeping with the spirit of the game? Which supports the competition’s ethos of promoting young talent more?

“That is clearly disingenuous and by fining us this amount the EFL is effectively saying that promoting young talent is only acceptable if they’re with an EPPP1 club, and they are depriving their own member clubs’ young players access to first-team football.”

The orient situation is just getting worse.

Players are dipping. Managers dipping in short space of.time...Currently sitting in. League 2 relegation . This team could be in serious trouble. The owner don't even give a shit, man dipped out the county coz he said the fans don't respect him. The statement one of his minions gave out the other day was disgusting

A Club Statement from Chief Executive Alessandro Angelieri reads as follows

“The actions of the club over the past two and a half years have always been in good faith and that can never be doubted. A squad without future was inherited, and has been completely renewed with it today including a number of talents aged between 17 and 24.

Mr Becchetti did not like the fan protests because at the beginning of the season everyone, supporters included, praised the club for their summer transfer business.  Thereafter Mr Becchetti doesn’t play on Saturday.

I think that within common sense, Mr Becchetti will continue to fund the club, though appropriate offers for the club will be considered. One offer has been received, but it was not acceptable for a number of reasons.

In regards to player departures, since last February Jay Simpson had scored six goals, and from last summer he had been trying to leave the club. Andy Edwards rightly decided to leave him out of the squad because of his lack of commitment to Leyton Orient.

Jordan Bowery’s contribution during the first half of the season was imperceptible, so his departure can be considered neutral, while Alan Dunne was out of the plans under both Andy Hessenthaler and Andy Edwards.

In terms of funds available, it’s not the club that has to give guarantees to Andy Edwards, but vice versa. Andy can count on prospects who he has helped nurture like Sam Sargeant, Aron Pollock, Sandro Semedo, Myles Judd, Sam Dalby and Tristan Abrahams who has scored 20 goals for the youth team this season, as well as great young talents like Paul McCallum and Gavin Massey who are players with fantastic qualities, and have a massive desire that was lacking from players in the past like Darius Henderson, Jobi McAnuff and Jordan Bowery.

I think that my absence due to ill health could have had some negative effect, but I believe even further that the absence of Mr Becchetti during the last three months has had a more negative impact on the squad. His personal business did not allow him to be close to the team, when he would usually come to the training ground every Friday and to the games on a Saturday. Mr Becchetti has a great charisma and the players definitely feel his absence.

We are fully confident that we will remain in the Football League come the end of the season but if relegation was to unfortunately happen we will keep our current policy in place of promoting and showing faith in young players."
