We have no idea how it happened.

What we have been told is that there is a steep, quite a bad bend so the tram may have derailed.

There was also torrential rain earlier perhaps that had something to do with it - but this is all complete speculation.

It's unbelievable that this has happened - it's unprecedented really since the tram opened in 2000.

Them trams can pick up a bit of speed especially downhill,  that corner is basically the shape of an "L"  upside down on a downhill bend.  I remember back when I use to catch tram on a regular people/shopping would be sent flying on that corner certain times.

Weather didn't play no part in that, Tramlink been going around that corner for 16 years in worse weather,  that's down to driver error or mechanical

I'm really trying tounderstand how 7 people died from a tram overturning. One or two unlucky ones maybe but 7?!

What would be the cause of death? Trauma to the head after banging it on something?

equivalent of a bus turning over, doesn't seem that crazy, max speed is 50mph, and apparently the derailment was due to excessive speed

Anyone sitting on the side of impact is likely to have their head smash against the ground extremely hard.

i know it was in the same week as US elections but fairly little coverage to what i feel a pretty serious incident, 7 people dying on a public transport accident is pretty unusual

Compensation to the families of the deceased, after all it was their employee who caused the deaths.
