  1. Is it political or is it the fault of the contractors who did the work. The likely hood is that it is both of their faults.
  2. I voted labour FYI. I believe in reducing inequality because I didn't always have money. But I don't believe in far left socialism and I don't believe in using tragedies like this to try and benefit or self promote certain political agendas.
  3. Have you seen some of the interviews and political statements being given airtime. People are using this for self gain means. Not all but some.
  4. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm saying the building was unsafe. This is the fault of the state. However the opportunism being shown is disgusting. The goal must be to make the buildings safe. Not talking about rich poor divide and all that other shit.
  5. I don't have contempt for poor people. I was a poor person and not the kind of "poor" where I still had brand new Air Force ones. My point is over the opportunism being shown by a lot of people trying to use the tragedy for personal gain. I take the point about the building and attention not being paid because they were poor. But it's a distraction from the thing that will actually prevent another one of these. It should be secondary to actually making these blocks safe.
  6. The point is that the state failed with fire prevention regulation and fire safety in this block and others. People keeping jumping on the poverty wagon to push some socialist agenda. If you're poor you have to work your way out of it, stop trying to politicise the situation on camera, social media and alike to trying and get more money or nicer shit out of the government. It's disgusting because its opportunistic and muddies the issue at hand and the thing that will actually prevent another one of these incidents.
  7. Saying the same thing over and over again doesn't make it any more correct. If I died in my office building in a fire (which could have happened) would my cause of death have been "because he was an accountant." Please say that you understand this point for the love of god. We are getting to hung up on bullshit politics and if we want to avoid another one of these we need to ensure that the focus is on he cause which is gas pipes, cladding, lack of fire exits, lack of sprinkler systems etc.... people are not going to stop being poor because of this. If you don't have a job, guess what... you will be poor. If you are housed at he states expense, guess what... it won't be plush. The state failed in ensuring the buildings were safe and there is an issue with fire prevention regulation, that is where it's obligation lies and where change needs to happen.
  8. There are people saying living in these blocks is like living in pigeon holes. There are people saying they need better quality of housing. There are people saying that rich people live down the road as though it is the fault of the rich that they have money. Everyone is using this tragedy to push their own angle and it's wrong. How is actionable change going to happen if you try to use this tragedy to highlight every single social inequality that exists. You need only see the interviews to see this being used for 100 different social agendas.
  9. Look you uneducated pleb. The cladding was attached to make the building look prettier. Perfectly in line with current fire regulations ergo there is an issue with the fire regulations. The building wasn't safe because no one considered that having gas pipes running up the stairways was stupid. No one considered that cladding was unsafe. It's a problem with the fire regulations and the standard of the refurb as well as the decisions made. Of course these people didn't die because they were poor. They didn't die of starvation they died in an unsafe building. A building that is the same across the country and this needs to be addressed.
  10. Grenfell is becoming to politicised and being used for every agenda possible. "These people died because they aren't white." "These people died because they were poor." Its all bullshit. Obviously fire regulations need to be updated and this building was unsafe. Together with dodgy cladding and an ill thought out refit. That's the story. Its giving too many wastemen and women a platform to push some kind of socialist agenda that they need better housing etc... as though there are public funds to put every one is a maisonette or three bed semi. Especially in London. To many bandwagon movements using this tragedy detracting from where the focus should be which is making these towers safe across he country and helping the victims and families of victims of this particular incident.
  11. Why do they keep downplaying the death toll? I mean no one believes that only 58 people died in this madness.
  12. I'm torn this election. I still don't know which way I am going to vote.
  13. I know if I contracted now. I could double my pay. That's the temptation. Trying to constantly climb the career ladder is draining. The contractors I know get paid more, less skilled than me and leave earlier (because why should they give a fuck really).
  14. I'm considering jacking in the career ladder to contract in the not too distant future. One of my plans is to reach a certain level and then make the jump. What are your views about when is a good time?

    Work & Life

I'm new to my current company. Is it too soon for me to get pissed that I spent all Sunday doing someone else's work for a deadline today because they went on holiday and didn't put the hours in to catch up and get it done.

Why post pictures of the unobtainable yard. Like say it's a 5 year plan thing.
  18. Uncle Phil is dead? edit: yep. Yes he is. ?
  19. Not just that. Gave a random woman 15k for IVF when she told deal or no deal what she was there for and didn't get the amount she needed. Gave a random person £25k to clear their debt, leaving a cheque behind the counter when he heard the person crying over the debt when he was in a cafe. Gave all the royalties from last Christmas to Ethiopian famine relief. There's more and no one knew any of this. Unlimited ratings for him.
  20. His acts of kindness have been trickling through the internet since he died. You have to respect the fact that the man did these kindnesses not for adulation, not because his celebrity demanded it, but because he simply wanted to do good.
  21. Where is there a black middle class area anywhere in the western world?

    iPhone

iPhone 7 plus is decent but very incremental. Nothing special. Will get iPhone 8 plus next year also and sell this after a while.
  23. Nah man. I don't have ownership over my wife to have to share her. Her relationship is hers, I don't interfere. Buf I find it difficult to have a relationship with someone that wouldn't form part of my friends circle. Yet being forced
