    Gervinho

We're a team known to be scared of shooting half the time...Gervinho for me is a welcome addition to the squad. I can see him bagging 10+ goals next season given the opportunity. Hair doesn't look as bad as first anticipated aswell, him Song and Sagna are probably best friends already :lol:Thoughts on Gervinho for the upcoming season...? Place your bets NOW.
  2. One of those players you just love to watch, always full of surprises. Thought he was finished when he got sent off in the NLD but that lovable scamp has found his way back into our hearts.Absolute joy to behold.Favourite player at Arsenal./we need to turn 'blame it on eboue' into a positive chant. too catchy to go to waste
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2287206/Arsenal-set-1-5bn-takeover-Middle-Esat-consortium.html?ICO=most_read_module Saying they will bid £1.5Bn for the club. IMO viewing Malaga, I do not want. Discuss
  4. After watching the past two wins albeit we are in a bit of a mad patch and yes we got the points I can't help but cringe at my tv screen. The Greeks carved our defence open like fuggin doner kebabs a number of times and it just set me at unease, too much space between our back 4 and the midfield when we attack, I only enjoy that end to end shit when it isn't us. To be honest bar a few players like Arteta we look pants, and I do worry for that day if the scum come at us all guns blazing.

  7. Frimpong: I told Fletcher to join Arsenal Emmanuel Frimpong has shed light on his short spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers and revealed that he was so impressed with Scottish striker Steven Fletcher that he suggested the 24-year-old join Arsenal. Despite having his time at Molineux cruelly cut short by a cruciate knee ligament injury, the second time he’s suffered such a problem, the Ghanaian enforcer also spoke in admiring terms about the attitude and spirit within the Wolves set-up. “I think Steven Fletcher is a good player, I told him to come to Arsenal!” Frimpong told the Arsenal official matchday programme of a player who has scored ten goals this term. “Stephen Ward at left-back isn’t bad either. They’ve got decent players, and the thing about them is that everyone works so hard. “They base everything around work – people there even told me they haven’t got the ability of some of the teams in the Premier League and need to make up for that by working hard and I think that’s the right attitude.” Reflecting fondly on his period away from Arsenal, Frimpong hinted that he could one day return if another loan spell was deemed necessary: “As a footballer you sometimes have to make decisions, and I think going to Wolves was probably the best thing I could have done. “They may not have been doing too well, but the manager [recently departed Mick McCarthy] was very good to me – I think it’s very important to go to a manager who likes you, and he showed belief in me. “He put me in the team, and I’m just happy that I was able to do him proud on the pitch. I had a great time, and if I come back from injury and need some games then I’d be happy to go back there.”

  11. Carl Jenkinson is "flattered" that Arsène Wenger has labelled him the next "David Beckham" and has put his faith in him but he knows he has plenty of work to do to become a regular in the Arsenal first team. The summer signing from Charlton had yet to play League One football this time last year but he is now holding down a spot at Emirates Stadium following an injury to Bacary Sagna. Wenger has praised the rate of Jenkinson's improvement in recent months and he demonstrated his trust in the 19-year-old by fielding him against West Bromwich Albion instead of playing a centre back out of position. It didn't go unnoticed. "It's a very flattering thing for him to do that and believe in me," Jenkinson told Arsenal Player. "Obviously I'm still young but I do think I am capable of playing. I've got the ability and I have it in me to be playing now - it's just up to me to play well, take my chances and make sure I keep that place. "It's very nice for him to believe in me and put me in the team in the first place. Obviously over the years he's put faith in youngsters but when it's you, you're that bit more grateful." Jenkinson has been on a steep learning curve since he crossed the capital in the summer and he is determined to prove that Wenger was right to bring him to the Club. "There's a lot more improvement for me to do and I know I have a lot more in me to show it," said Jenkinson. "But I know I have to improve if I want to be a regular at this football club. It's nice that he thinks that but I know I have a lot more to do to get where I want to be. "I think the main thing was that he saw some potential in me at Charlton. I was playing League One football and was only 18 but I was doing quite well. From what they told me I think Arsenal were quite impressed with my athleticism - the fact that I can get up and down the pitch. "I think they saw that there were many things that I can improve technically but that they could improve when I came here. I think physically they were quite impressed with me but now I'm here I can improve other aspects of my game."
  12. Arsenal Football Club is today delighted to announce that its most successful manager, Arsène Wenger, has signed a three year extension to his current contract, taking his tenure at the Club to June 2014.Wenger, the longest-serving manager in the Club’s history, is as committed as ever to leading the team in the challenge for trophies at the highest level, as well as continuing to produce the sumptuous football for which Arsenal has become synonymous with during his 14 year reign.Arsène Wenger said: “My heart belongs to Arsenal and my desire is to see this team win silverware.“My commitment and drive are as strong and fresh as ever. Signing a new deal means that I can see this talented group of players reach their potential. Trust me, they are ready to deliver.“With my staff and players we are in front of an exciting challenge and we are looking forward to achieving much success.”Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood stated: “We are thrilled that Arsène has signed an extension to his contract. He has masterfully transformed this football club over the last 14 years and the exciting and compelling football we play under his stewardship is admired the world over.“Arsène is a very talented man and we believe the young, exciting team he has nurtured over the past five years will reward his and the fans’ patience with silverware.”During his time with the Gunners, Wenger has revolutionised the Club not only through the brand of successful football the team plays but also through his detailed and insightful input into the design of the state-of-the-art training centre at London Colney and the layout of the players’ and technical staff areas at Emirates Stadium.Wenger has steered Arsenal to seven major trophies over the last 14 years, including the 2003/2004 Premier League title without losing a single game. In each of his 13 full seasons at Arsenal, the Club has qualified for the UEFA Champions League - Europe’s premier club competition- an achievement matched only by Manchester United and Real Madrid.

  17. Van Persie in frame to face Spurs By David Ornstein Arsenal striker Robin van Persie could make a surprise return to the Gunners squad for Wednesday's crucial trip to Tottenham, BBC Sport understands. The 26-year-old Dutchman scored eight goals in 11 games before rupturing ankle ligaments during the Netherlands' friendly against Italy last November. In Van Persie's absence, Arsenal have scored only 1.77 goals per league game, as opposed to 3.26 before his injury. Arsenal are three points behind leaders Chelsea with five games left. And with the Blues hosting Bolton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, Arsene Wenger's men could be six points adrift by the time they kick off against Spurs at White Hart Lane. Chelsea also benefit from a far superior goal difference, so anything other that a victory would deal the Gunners' title aspirations a potentially fatal blow. Three points would keep Arsenal in realistic contention and see them leapfrog Manchester United into second place. That may encourage Wenger to name Van Persie in his injury-ravaged squad, who play their first match since being knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona last Tuesday. The Dutchman, who scored twice in Arsenal's 3-0 win against Spurs early this season, has missed 31 games in all competitions but his rehabilitation went according to plan and Wenger was impressed by the physical condition he was in on returning from the Netherlands. Van Persie maintained his fitness through swimming and gym work and, once the ankle had completely healed, he began training with amateur side AFC Amsterdam. He has now been doing ball work for several weeks and reportedly stunned onlookers by completing a daily work-out in which he would shoot with full force and perform sprinting drills. "He is physically, fitness-wise, in a good shape," said Gunners boss Wenger on 25 March. "So we have just to get him back to full team fitness - that will take two to three weeks maximum. "I would say two weeks but after that when you start to play you are not at your best. You have to get a few games to get back to your best." Club physio Colin Lewin recently told the Arsenal website that Van Persie - Arsenal's joint third-highest scorer in the league this season - would be joining the first-team squad for full training "imminently". After Tottenham, Arsenal face Wigan, Manchester City, Blackburn and Fulham as they bid to win their first trophy since 2005 and a first Premier League title since 2004. Van Persie's return is also good news for the Netherlands ahead of this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
  18. 1st half I'm sure I speak for most of us Arsenal fans in saying Santi was world class in his link up play always the epitome of composure in making space with the little lest of movement!. The striking addition of Giroud also looks a massive positive, the guy has an abundance of strength beneath the bonnet whilst he's quick on his feet and will run the into the channels too - a real star in the making. Overall I think you could see some of last years mindset in our play as Podolski, Giroud and Santi all looked frustratingly when unable to receive a quick one two or weather the direct pass wasn't played quick enough and this may be the new wave of progression that our squad needs with Theo clearly enjoying riding the new wave as the second goal he layed on the plate was a quick decisive pass!. Others to note; Per Mertersacker signs of fitness severely lacking, Oxlade-Chamberlain too enthusiastic at times but he reminded me of Vieria in that central midfield role. 2nd half From around the 70th minute you could see the intentions of Chamakh, Van Persie & Arshavin were quite clear providing a lack of effort, no intention to play positively and made playing with them the hardest task in the world in which Gervinho, Song, Diaby, Santos, Jenkinson all refused to take part in attacking duties showing a clear divide of loyalty in the camp. No real positives in truth due to the performance being tainted by the three amigo's which was a sour last 30-35 minutes to endure.
