-
In a for delightful season again. Jose out? Pogba out? Nothing will top the Moyes Boys or 300k vs LVG series Can the writers for Utd: Post Fergie top that?
-
£65m Is he worth it ? Better then what United have ?
-
Been with Jose since the start. Definitely able to get a decent job once he's ready. Seen it all. Who replaces him ?

Every football fan learns about the Munich disaster whilst young but I don't think the sentiment really hit me until I started to read up on the teams achievements and the individuals themselves. This was more than a team of potential, they were already 2x League title winners 2x European Cup Semi finalists, nearly did the 1st double the year before the crash. I watched the 1957 FA Cup Final in full and it was a farce how they lost it tbh. The team got to the 1958 FA Cup Final again, despite losing 8 of their players 3 months before. The team was made up mainly of youth team players. 3 starters of the England team were lost which affected their 58 World Cup chances. Roger Byrne Captain of Man U, his wife found out she was pregnant a few days after he died. Tommy Taylor, top striker, 16 in 19 for England, the record would have probably been his not Bobby Charlton's in all honesty. Duncan Edwards, died at 21, hard to describe the potential this boy had. Probably the most gifted footballer this country ever produced. I am reading Edwards' self written book on his short life and football. I was shocked to learn he had written something so early in his career at such a young age. He was an old wise head, naturally right footed but with enough insight to train his left to be as good as his right as a kid. I saw him take the corner in the 57 Cup final which Taylor scored the header from with his left foot. He was something else, Man U debut at 16 (still the record) England debut at 18 (broken 40 years later by Michael Owen) he was a prodigy. If you see the detail with which he talks about football in his book it's apparent Man U lost more than a player, he was a philosopher in the vein of Cryuff. I'm convinced he would have been groomed and taken over as Manager when Busby left in 69. So the success in the 70's was potentially lost aswell. I recently went to his home town of Dudley to pay my respects, saw his statue in town, went to the archives where they have some of his shirts and caps, went to his grave aswell, was a wonderful day. Just thought there should be a thread focusing on this era of football and in particular the jewel in the crown which was this team that perished.

3rd (Spurs) 4th (Chelsea) 7th (Newcastle) 12th (Brighton) 6th (Watford) 5th (Arsenal) 1st (City) (Obviously based on current league positions) With Benfica Basel and CSKA dotted in there too. Praying Pogba is back in time for the latter part because I can already see Mourinho working out the budget and setting aside petrol money and parking fees for the bus. Its gonna get constant usage! Squeaky bum time? Or is this gonna be calm for us? Because our record against the top end if the table is laughable.

That's mad still

United have been consistently the same level since 2013 depite changing managers, changing staff and wholesale player changes... one could argue they have been the same level since 2011 but thats a much more complex argument(along the same premise as this but would take too long) So what has caused this ? Well they have spent €500m since Fergie left and a lot of the signings have been moved on and replaced by even newer signings, the majority of these players I will put under the variable group(except the 1 constant) also during this point there is a group of players i will lump under fixed who have remained constant. Fixed De Gea Rooney Smalling Jones Carrick Young Valencia Fellaini As these players have taken up 5/6 of the starting positions over those 3 years the other 5/6 spots have been the ones to constantly change... these are the variable players Variable As there has been such a high player turnover I will not list everyone. Evra Mata* Hernandez Rafael Nani Welbeck RVP Kagawa Zaha Januzaj Di Maria Falcao Valdes Depay*** Martial*** Schweinsteiger*** Darmian*** Pogba*** Ibrahimovic*** Mkhitarayan*** If you keep some things the same and change others and get the same results well your changing the wrong things, when will united, united fans, media etc realise this ? As (apart from recent rooney bash bandwagon) the ones who have been getting singled out and blamed have been in the variable list... why do they sign a superstar in di maria give him 1 season with valencia, fellaini and smalling then ship him out only to repeat it with Pogba ? This is just utter madness. Its time United done away with the spine and this was brought to everyones attention... Unless all of those fixed players leave or are reduced to reserves then the results will stay the same. You cant keep half the team the same and constantly change the other half and then blame the other half when results stay the same..Nothing will change until those players are changed *was signed 1st season could be fixed *** not yet sold

Permanent - Blackett (Reading) - Donald Love (Sunderland) - Valdes (Middlesbrough) - McNair (Sunderland) - Powell (Wigan) Loan - James Wilson (Derby) - Janujaz (Sunderland) - Borthwick-Jackson (Wolves) - Varela (Frankfurt) Still to go - W.Keane - Schweinsteiger - Perieria Rumours - Jones Anyone you disagree with? Or others that should be shipped out this window?

Average positions from today's game As expected Rooney and Ibra in almost the exact same spot of grass. Hopefully it's been noted and will be addressed asap before it starts to impact results.

I just don't see a way to get the best out of Pogba when he is being made to do Rooneys running playing from deep. Needs to be running into space, but the way Rooney drops off, it will just be congested. Would like to see is try either a midfield 3, or Mata in the #10 role, who roams more and would give #PP6 the space he excels in. However I can see a Falcoa, Rooney and RVP situation happening where he tries to fit everyone in. What will happen for the next few weeks until he has to make decision to drop the Elephant in the room... ------------------------De Gea - - - - - - - - - - - -Valencia- Smalling-- Bailly/Blind--Shaw --------Carrick/Fellaini/Schneiderlin--------- ---------------Pogba/Herrera------------------------ -----Mykt/Lingard -----Rooney----Martial--- ---------------------------Ibra---------------------------- With Shaw and Valencia playing so far forward, not sure if that team has enough defensively with Carrick, Smalling and Bailly to cope with counters. I would swap Rooney for Mata/Herrera for more balance, and to get the best from Pogba Thoughts?

Eric Bailly €40mill to Utd Looked very decent when I've seen him, still a bit raw though

Who will stay/go Who will come in What do united need ?

Almost exactly a year from my last one, might aswell make it a recurring thing. How do you feel about our season? FA Cup winners and 5th are you happy with how it ended? Will we see [Ice]mechanical era[/Ice] season 3? Or do you expect new management? Who would you like to see come in or go out? So again another season of mediocrity. One place behind last year in a season where I wasn't sure if our 4th place finish was due to us improving or if the league got shitter? I guess Leicester winning and Tottenham almost (lol) finishing second proves the latter. Performance wise we scored 13 less goals than last season where we scored practically no goals lolwtf. But the latter part of the season, and I'm talking the last couple weeks our football has looked better. Rashford being the brightest spark of the season. Martial too. Praying our Dave decides to stay. He should go a find champs league football and a team challenging for everything but please God no. We woulda finished 10th. Do we still need a striker? With Rashford and Martial we have two young hungry ballers that look to be the future. Midfield again still needs that quality injection and defence is laughable at times. No idea who we been linked with other than Zlatan after Bayern stole everyone else. Lacklustre season again 16/17 or will we push on from here? What you guys think?
-
First team: Smalling Under 21: Borthwick-Jackson Under 18: Rashford
-
We'll have no European football to focus on when we finish 8th. So we should be able to challenge for the top 4 trophy next season. What's your ideal scenario or realistic scenario? Manager: Mourinho/Giggs? Aside from De Gea who will probably leave, Shaw, Martial, Blind, Fosu-Mensah and Rashford I don't think there is anybody who we should not consider replacing and upgrading. While all the top players go to our rivals (Ibra, Gundagon etc), who will we sign?
-
Really good read. No reason for Jones to be at our club with Tuanzebe, TFM and Williams on the come up.
-
Poor managerial appointments Poor signings Poor contracts given (young, Rooney extensions) Letting Di Maria leave under contract Chasing guys like Neymar and Muller Paying 7 mill more fellaini after waiting for his release fee to increase Paying over the odds for average players

Is he worth it for 1 league title and a champions league semi final Surely he will leave the club in a worse situation then Moyes Or will he finally build a 2nd team
