Barca in swoop for Wenger By IAN McGARRYJune 19, 2007 BARCELONA will turn to Arsene Wenger after losing the Spanish league.Frank Rijkaard is expected to step down following Real Madridââ¬â¢s triumph.The Spanish giants made Arsenal boss Wenger their No 1 target to replace him and reports in France last week said Wenger met with Barca director Feran Soriano in Paris.There was speculation the meeting was to discuss the transfer of Thierry Henry to Barca.But senior sources at the Nou Camp were last night insisting Wengerââ¬â¢s own future was also a topic of discussion.The Frenchman prides himself on having always honoured contracts. He has one year remaining on his Arsenal deal and recently vowed to see it out.But he is frustrated by the lack of transfer funds and is also still smarting from the loss of close ally David Dein, who quit the Emirates last April.

Wengers future is in doubts.Their has been rumours circulating around Arsenal that he isn't entirly happy with the direction the club are taking after Dein left.But if that means him going to Barca with Henry im not to sure about that one.Although Barca would be an ideal place for him to go after being at Arsenal so long.I cant see him going after he said he'd stay for the reminder of his contract.He's a man of his word.

He has a contract until Summer 2008, which he will see through, he'll re-open talks again in Christmas/January regarding a new deal.Football is based on rumours. I think Wenger understand more than anyone that when somebody leaves whoever influential, you move on with a positive attitude and try not to look back.

Its been speculated that Wenger asked about Torres but quickly forgot about it after hearing the asking price, however its said Reyes plus 10m Euros could clinch the deal.To be honest I cant see it, plus I aint even sure if I want Torres at Arsenal. After Baptista & Reyes I worry about Spanish players in the Prem.

How would it be a joke, when i clearly stated "NO JOKE".....It's my opinion.Maybe not relegation battle, but you would turn into any Middlesborough.
