Nah Blud I
Chris Hughton has confirmed that Darren Bent will make his debut in our first pre-season friendly at Stevenage Borough on Saturday. The striker is in the squad to face the FA Trophy winners at Broadhall Way, kicking-off at 3pm.Chris told us this afternoon: "We're missing a few players including the lads who played international football in the summer and three players who trained a little later than the others won't be involved either - Gareth Bale, Didier Zokora and Younes Kaboul."Darren Bent will play and that's exciting for everyone, he's done very well in his week's training so far and Robbie Keane looks very fresh after his first summer without international games for just about as long as he can remember."So it's an opportunity to see the likes of Darren, Robbie, Adel Taarabt, Steed Malbranque, Danny Murphy, Jamie O'Hara, Ricardo Rocha, Radek Cerny and around those, some of the regular reserve team players."As usual, Chris expects a tough test from the Conference side managed by former Spur Mark Stimson. He added: "We've played a lot of reserve team games at Stevenage over the last few years and this is a good start to pre-season for us."Every season we've played against them it's been a tough game and we've tended to take a lot of players and give them an opportunity."We've had a good week's training and the lads are back in good shape. We're very much back into football work from the first day and a lot of that is down to the fact that players return to pre-season training a lot fitter than they did in the past."We're aware it will be a competitive game and as with any game, we go there wanting to win."
